Some would say its not neccesary but when i think of a game that has everything serve a purpose why is there no polygonal nudity. Age of conan for example did it well and caved in. I wouldnt say its bad or wrong as ts a part of nature and americans strangely have issues with it where euros do not. Is it for ratings? I despise when ppl cave to get around an m rating. The rating sustem never prevents kids from getting games. And with the internet theres nothing half aw bad that u could put ingame as u could find on the web. Why not have a filter and then tie access to the content to your age listen on a credit card or the forum or elsewhere its not foolproof but it would ateast be some kind of censor(even tho unless its out of context its not as bad ae the language k ids use today)

It seems more realistic to me. Im sure it wont hallen but there are practical cases for its inclusion

Im not advocating for having it just where u remove ur clothes on a player charqcter id like to see it as in like the game witcher 3 as in content and some contextual places

I'm not for or against it. But if they go that route, I hope it is the very last thing on their action list because there are much more important things they need to be working on other then worrying about peoples digital fantasies.

Imo, if you want realism, and nudity, consult your wife/husband, gf/bf, local strip club, escort agency, internet pornsite, adult video store, or go take your clothes off and look in the mirror.

I agree its not as important as some things but try not to be so judgemental ci have a gf and it has nothing to do with anything other than immersion and realism cpeople always jump to some perverse conclusion. Im sure the player models would take much to include. I mean is there really a point to a playable piano? Its the same thing with nudity its just a part of the natural world only soceity perverts and demonizes it

"Because it's a Crime in Many Countries" (like it or not :()
Here's the biggest reason, "It's illegal in some countries". A player could spend a year in a Thailand Jail Cell, "if such a game was to slip past the Government oversight and it was found out that you were playing it"...
Which also goes for many other countries laws and regulations on nudity, lewd or revealing products.

Here's just an example of how Tropico 5 is banned from Thailand....

Ouch and I thought censorship was terrible here in the states.

On the other hand, you can get anything here, but you are just not going to get it in public or see it's adds anywhere but in the red light districts which are mostly on the south coast where the tourists are. In the USA, you can go to jail from what the red light districts offer here... So, as you can see, the Thai's could say the same thing, that censorship in the USA is too much. I've seen many things on the TV news here, that would have never been on the TV in the states because of the USA's censorship.

Different cultures are a trip! :p You can have allot more fun in Thailand, and bring the kids to a very safe place, or the parents can go do adult things beyond that of other cultures in a place where kids aren't allowed.
BTW, I live in the North where it's much more conservative, yet they still have places you can catch on YouTube, both clean and upper class with actual skilled dancing girl shows and bands, and also just a few places where there is more than I would ever wish to go to o_O Everything you can imagine is different here, where the conservatives are the ones that make sure the poor are taken care of and the liberals are those that want it all for themselves.
I want to play SotA in Thailand... "so please keep it clean!" :D

*shudder* Makes me think back to logging into Mortal Online and the starting area just being full of naked wangs running up to you to pickpocket you.

Thats why it could have a toggle and people should have personal tesponsibility. Just because heroin is legal in some countries doesnt make it ok for someone to do it where its illegal. Legalities in other countries shouldnt have any bearing on what we do in our country. If its illegal there and he chooses it then its all on him for not using a filter

No, they just ban the game from that market, and getting ban from any market is no good for anything being marketed.
If you could imagine any of the Portalarium staff visiting a different country and being arrested,
that's a very risky thing when just a small minority of players want nude content.
And that's all I will say on this subject because it's absurd,
"no matter what we think or feel about the subject"

Nope it's not. If a game uses illegal content it will not be published in that country. It will have to be altered by the developer to fit the laws of the country. For example Germany and certain symbols associated with the WW2 area. If you need a specific example: Wolfenstein: the new Order, in the german version you fight a unnamed regime...

So the fact is, laws in other countries, have an impact since there are a lot more potential buyers out there and normally you want to get as many as you can....

[edit] ok Time Lord beat me to it... well it's him cheating time, obviously

Even if, which I hope they don't, bring in nudity. Even if it Has a slider all your gunna see is naked girls in town 24/7. Even if some people say they won't 80% of players probably will. Also, just cause it's realistic doesn't mean it should be in game, lulz. Just read the pvp threads if all realism was accepted the game would suck. <];D

I never actually thought of this. But I agree with you, it should be ingame. But agreeing with Time Lord.. It goes way more in depth then just adding it. But it would add some sort of realism.

And Azurafox, I dont get your answer what so ever about going to get it in real life. No where did he mentioned he was lacking it or needed it. He was just making a comment about an addition to the game.

It also creates a lot of weird realism issues of its own, like people running around in cities naked with nobody saying anything about it. You'd expect guards to put you in jail right?

At least, if people are running around with underwear and nobody is saying anything, its only a little weird, but not too weird.

Any sales lost would be remade from the news headline sales. Why would they even go there. Seems like u are living on a plethora of assumptions. Why havent age of conan makers been arested or those nazi game makers arrested in germany? Because there are other things to worry about than a few pixels arranged a certain way

Nope, you just didn't read what I wrote: The entire game was revamped to fit the german market, all nazi symolism removed, text was altered... just so it could be published in Germany. And I never said anything about being arrested, but your assumtion shows you don't know how it works. Here in Germany we have an Game-Index, everything not "appropriate" is added to that index and thus it's illeagal to sell it. The standard of course varies over time, e.g. Doom 1 as the "first shooter" was deemed to violent in the nineties and was banned till (you gonna laugh) 2012. Most of the Command & Conquer games had to call their soldiers cyborgs and the game displayed green blood... so these alterations have been done for decades now, and the easiest way to avoid them is to build the game as "clean" as possible. But I have to admit nowadays it's not as strict anymore, but certain things like nazi-sybolism will always prevent a game from being published in Germany, other problems are solved by selling certain games only to people of certain ages, for a lot of games you have to be 16 or 18 and stuff like that...

What news headlines? And why they want to sell games on other markets than in the US? Fairly easy, you are not the center of the universe, and even if Germany is a small country (half the size of Texas), we are 85 million people compared to your 300 million in the entire US. Germany is the biggest gaming market in Europe, that's why they go there, they want to go there, since we (with roughly a thrid of the people) spent roughly half of what you guys spent (in total) on games. Now thats only Germany, and you want to ignore every country with other rules and regulations than the US? Well go ahead and see the entire game industry crumble. And no, that's no joke, that's a fact, like I said: not the center of the universe.

If im not mistaken germany or at least part of it is known for its view towards hedonism as being tolerated. Specifically the lax view on ladies of the night and similar things. What is so wrong about a little nudity if it were to tell a story and not trashy?

Thanks to paul merton i know of at least one town in which such things are celebrated as normal. I would think germans would have the least amount of problems with it as in the sake of art and storytelling. Ive always wanted to see europe but one cant help but be hampered by cultural differences

I can forsee if catering to a market comes into play during design it will hurt and stifle creativity. Im shocked anywhere in europe would have problems with video games and artful storytelling. I know the history but since doom id hope progress had been made

Sorry on phone cant type well

A little would be ok, and it would have to be tasteful in a "Sistine Chapel" ceiling kind of way. :)

    I'd also like mobile brothels.
So its basically a hague cart or a wagon with wenches inside, and it travels from town to town, visits schools, universities, libraries to service clients..

    @ Veylen

In Germany we don't have as much problems with nudity as in the US, and displayed in a game it would only lead to an age restriction for that game. But my point was that there are other countries out there where it's more difficult to publish. And it's not about tailoring to fit a certain market, but the fact that publishing can be simple if you don't complicate things for yourself.

I'll answer that with a quote:
To clearify that, we got age restrictions for: free/appropriate at age 0, 6, 12, 16,18 (maybe some more but those are the major ones).

A few years ago I dabbled a little in wicca, and some of the people I frequented with were into the whole skyclad thing.

It wasn't really my scene - which was still OK because they were pretty openminded and made it optional. I did try though - and basically got to prance round in my undies feeling like a chilly loon, and feeling left out even in the midst of things.

Suffice to say Wicca wasn't my thing for various reasons. Neither was public nudity , but it totally worked out for others, and in that particular case I was the one feeling wierd and strangely out of place.

Now in SOTA I want to RP a witch, ironically.. and frankly if she has any bit more guts than me she wouldn't be afraid to run round in the noddy even if I can't.
Firstly I think: Why should I limit her with my inhibitions? She's the sword-wielding-spell-casting kick ass adventurer! What is she scared of?

If I gave in to my own self doubts I would never steal in SOTA, never smoke in SOTAand certainly never consider murdering anyone for their shiny pennies in SOTA, all of which I would consider to be far worse (and more fun?)than whether I choose to let my avi run round a field naked or not.

So. All things being equal I wouldn't mind a chance to run round like a loon in the noddy in SOTA. At least vicariously I would like to think I'm capable after all..
