Planning a casual Austin Gathering for ...

    Classic Game Fest 2015

    http://classicgamefest.com/schedule.html

    AND

    The Baron's Men Play
    "The Trojan Women"

    http://thebaronsmen.org/trojanwomen/

    Saturday, July 25, 2015

... and continue through Sunday, July 26 as desired!

There is a coincidence in the stars (or at least some dates)
that offer a very casual and no-host type of gathering for a day or weekend.

Interested people can come together at the Fest, have a casual dinner,
attend the Baron's Men play, and do more!

Richard Garriott and Starr Long will be at the Classic Game Fest 2015
(also see SotA Upcoming Events Link)

The Baron's Men are performing at Richard Garriott's Curtain Theatre

This is a No-Host activity where you can come to Austin, Texas and connect up with fellow players (and some developers). I, Winfield, will be a coordination contact point for people wanting to get together. Everyone will need to make their own transportation and housing arrangements. People can share here their discoveries for lodging as well. Reach me, Winfield, via PM if you are planning to attend so we can share some contact information and any other details.

    SCHEDULE:

Friday, July 24, 2015 - Central US Time

Nothing planned, but people coming to town (or already in town) might want to connect up depending on the time of day and desires.

Saturday, July 25, 2015 - Central US Time

    10 AM - Classic Gamefest - http://classicgamefest.com/schedule.html

    Who knows after this...

I attended one of The Baron's Men plays on April 4, 2015 at The Curtain Theatre. It was fantastic! The play was Measure for Measure by Shakespeare. Here are some images from that play.

    Update (June 27, 2015):

We are humbled and honored to join Lord British (Richard Garriott)
    personally at the Curtain Theatre
for the final performance of the Trojan Women performed by The Baron's Men!

See Lord British's VIP Booth above the entrance
where SotA Developer and Artist Scottie Jones "Lord Nimrond" is standing.

Oh... I could not pass up this picture of Lord British (right) and T.J. Brumfield (left)
    on stage in lethal battle
(Picture is from the HoBLoth II event on November 15-16, 2014 at Castleton.).

Again, reply and/or PM to me if you wish to attend so we can connect.

Also please share this information on your Facebook, Twitter, bar napkins, etc. to help get the word out to friends.

Note: You do not need to dress "in costume" at the Theatre. It is truly "come as you are". Enjoy!

I just ordered tickets to the Baron's Men event... it worked in MS Internet Explorer better than Chrome. Might be some glitches in the POS system they use. But MSIE worked nicely to make the ticket purchase for the Play.

I'm definitely going to go to the game fest. I've been waiting for the schedule to get finalized to figure out when I'm going. It would be fun to meet up.

Lord British will also be at the Curtain Theatre and extended his VIP Booth to us to enjoy the play with him.
It shall be a grand day and evening indeed!

I updated the OP on this Thread with more information and images of the Curtain Theatre.

This looks very tempting. Not just for Richard and Starr but Ernie will be there talking about his new book Armada, which comes out in a couple weeks!

Waiting for Armada is driving me nuts. A friend got an advanced copy and says it's amazing.

We are still anticipating a Fantastic July 25th day in Austin TX -- it is open to everyone! I am taking names (via PM) and contact information if needed so we can connect up that weekend. For those who have not been to Austin before, this is a great time to visit! Weather will be ... sunny and warm ... and probably dry.

    Weather Forecast: http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/austin-tx/78701/july-weather/351193

I will bring some mead (as always).

Ernest Cline's Book Armada is up on Amazon for release on July 14, 2015 -- just in time to bring a copy for a book signing with him!

I wish I could attend but ive used up all my vacation time on events such as this already!

So just wanted to pass on my best wishes to all going. To any on the fence, if you can do it, do it. You will have a good time, have some great life experiences, and meet some genuinely great people.

Im jealous of those getting to meet Ernest Cline! Love his stuff and have already pre-ordered Armada myself :). Ive tricked my entire family (mom, daughter, and wife) into reading Ready Player one by ordering them a Loot Crate that had it in it. *evil grin* they got a free book in a box of goodies.. of course they'll have to read it. Hey, I do what I gotta do to get them to appreciate quality stuff :). My mom read it in one night.. my daughter and wife haven't started yet.

For those that can't make the event but want a signed copy of Ernie's new book you might still be able to order from the local book store ... http://www.bookpeople.com/book/9780804137256
I would call and ask if there is still time since the book comes out on the 14th.
