Feels much more like a Town should look like. And now you have at the same spot 8 players able to say Owls Town is my home. Before only 2.

I did see screenshots with plants in front of the row houses. does this mean you can place small items like plants, a chair , or a long bank in front of the house. Maybe even a Vendor standing there?

Got to agree, the second & third pictures look more like a real town and is prettier to look at besides. I dont think those tables you saw are protected by the lot and can possibly be stolen. Vendor too alas.

Darkstarr addressed the vendors already, there isn't enough room to place vendors outside a row house on a row lot. Not sure about plants and such, but my guess is that you can't, unless a vendor takes a huge amount of space compared to plants.

I asked the question in the Q&A the other week and was given this answer.

Question: Can vendors be placed outside row houses?
This is not an option for row houses since there is no open land on them. Vendors will have to be inside the structure.

I would think there might be enough room to fit one under the overhanging section. Will have to wait until NPCs are placeable to see for sure.

That was my assumption as well, that's why i asked the question. The response either never took that overhang into account or the overhang itself is outside the area of the base of the row house.

It appears to line up with the fence for the village lot next door, so I would think its within the lot. Hard to say for sure tho.

This makes far more sense since this is supposed to be a city/town, not a village. You generally would expect to see row houses in a city or large town.

I really don't see why we can't drop a vendor just outside of a row house. I would think that there would be a little strip of land just in front of the house, in the same way that there is a little strip of land in front of a waterfront structure such as a lighthouse or a house boat.

That was my thought, but Starr says it can't be done, and I have a hard time justifying disagreeing with him.

This is the screenshot that gave me the impression that also row houses could have on a small line items placed outside.
Do you see the plants they placed as a decoration.

The 2 plants on the left bottom left corner confused me a lot. Because first i thought those plants are supposed to show the ending of a lot , but well the bottom has 2 plants, so that cant be the reason.

I think that the plants are just for the photos.... But could be. Anyway good decision in Owls Head.

That was my assumption with these as well. Some of them have an overhand, the other the front door it pushed out to the edge of the lot. I don't see why you couldn't be able to place a vendor in these locations. Placing them in the red box or under the overhand should still be on your lot.

I"ll see if I can place a chair in that marked box in R8. Currently, a chair won't even fit in the balcony of the 4 story row house - but it might just work in this case.

Yeah that box is definitely where I saw a potential spot for a vendor. We'll see if we can convince darkstarr.

I think they aren't allowing outside decoration/vendors to make village lots more appealing, (and possibly for realism, anything you leave outside in a crowded area like that is likely to disappear).

I can understand about the restriction of placing decorations on row houses, but not being able to place a vendor? I am guessing vendors are basically treated the same as decorations in terms of their placement. Some coding most likely would have to be re-written.

    All speculation.

Without any knowledge of Vendor (no one's seen one in SotA yet), or inside knowledge of how row lots work, or any of a number of other pieces of information, why Vendor's can't be placed on Row Lots is pure speculation. Starr pretty bluntly said "Can't be done." Not "We don't want to." or "Isn't easy." He said "Can't be done."

We don't know why, but I don't believe he's lying to us.

    Do you?
