?

What level of violence would you like SOTA to have?

  1. Blood

    5.5%
  2. Blood & Gore

    13.7%
  3. All of the above & the ability to mutiliate other players (Ultima Online)

    80.8%

So, is there a problem with allowing a slider that displays various levels of gore depending on the user's preference?

NRaas and Noctiflora would have voted for a "none of the above". There are two people lol. I am with you though

So? I would have also have voted none of the above. My thinking would've been in the context of levels of gratuity. I'm sure I'd be happy with whatever Richard is envisioning (minus the body part trophies and brain pies). As I've said.. go out of your way at this point asking for blood and gore feels like asking for a lot more than what's already going go in. Which I don't think we'll need.

^ You're totally contradicting yourself Bowen. You say you're fine with a certain level of blood/gore and then say you would have voted for "none of the above" were that option available.

The only options were blood, blood and gore, blood and gore and mutilation. A "none of the above" vote would be a vote for NO blood and NO gore at all - zero. Therefore there are people in this thread who are not ok with any level of violence as such. Make up your mind solider!

If you'll read my post a little more carefully you'll find I explained why I would've voted none of the above was in the context of thinking that gratuitous levels are being asked for.

I don't see a problem with a blood and gore slider (as herradam suggested) with a very minimal end and a very extreme end.

From minimal to extreme, it could read:

    -3 Candyland
    -2 The Meat Aisle
    -1 Typical American television
    0 Skyrim
    1 Dark Souls
    2 Attack on Titan
    3 Vomit-inducing & grotesque

If there's a filter or slider, what's the big deal?

The names are only meant to be silly, of course. I'd hope that if the developers implement a slider, that they'd avoid trivializing blood & gore as many games do.

Could be an opportunity to create a rich environment, really... especially wheb you're fighting in a den of necromancers or demons and such. Be able to see corpse decay, what type of weapon slew the victim, etc.

it was more an excemple i loved it in age of conan!!!!! and everyone who played it told me they like it, not one so far told me meh that gore is horrible it made fun to finish someone off. maybe too much, maybe yes. there dont have to be 200 different finishing moves but at least some. and no you dont have to watch it if you dont like there must be an option to turn it off.
but what i can see, a lot of mature players playing the game who already played uo and some of them like me would turn ultra gore on and would have much more fun in the game XD other players who have there kids at home should have the ability to turn it off
and i can say im not the only one who loved violent games and films since i was a small kid like premutos the film or games like phantasmagoria.

i think it belong to to a game fighting with swords (look rune) look the witcher but thats maybe just me. i mean also shooting games i played like cod 4 long time ago it always buged me its not like in soldiers of fortune 2 and i was dissapointed

maybe we not need so brutal gore but what i would like to see are wounds http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/14/13832/visiblewounds.jpg when u hiot someone with a sword same on mage. depending how much blood you see on him you know how wounded he is 1 hit 2 hit. i like this system much more than there is a health bar for the enemy which make it unrealistic

Okay so apparently there is a bit more blood and gore in SotA than I expected. The picture says it all.

I think it was really a bag of ketchup with feathers stuck on it.

Surely one chicken couldn't hold that much blood? That's quite the explosion!

I obviously beg to differ. No chicken has that much blood. Perfect might be about half that much. This is bordering on the gratuitous.
