Build Number 345 10:45 AM CDT:

    Fixes:
    • Fixed players getting locked to crafting stations when spamming the crafting/repair/salvage buttons
Let me put everything I want salvaged on the table with the correct tool and then have a progress bar show up like the gathering bar. The more items the longer the bar based on x seconds per item.

All the clicking does not add to game play (imho).

I agree, there should be a way to salvage all of your blades at one time. Or craft as many of an item as you have mats for.

Final Fantasy IVX addresses this issue by making multiple queued actions take much longer and reward (slightly) less than doing it manually, one at a time. If you really want to do it faster and maximize your returns, you have to do it manually. Otherwise, queue it up.

At least make it that double clicking items moves them to the crafting table.

I agree that you should be able to add multiple whatevers + smithing hammer to the window and hit Salvage once. If they are worried about giving us too much of a shortcut there then just do a crafting delay times num items.

A good compromise would be a second row of buttons with "Craft 10x", "Repair 10x" and "Salvage 10x":

    - it takes and locks ten times the amount of consumables
    - works only if materials are already in the inventory
    - works only if tools have enough durability
    - adds a skill-dependant timer - eventually adding further skilld about reducing multi-crafting/salvaging/repairing timers
    - if anything aborts your running job, it's up to designers to decide what happens to semi-processed materials. I'd say consume them.
    - forfeits any chance at critical success (so you may want to single-craft assembled equipment/weaponry), but prevents any critical failure

While I don't see what needs to be changed all together about salvaging. .I do think the ability to salvage several items at a time should be added.

Does the salvage still weigh more than the original? Have not tried it yet this release.

I think that's a crit salvage that is so magic it ignores conservation of mass.

Next time on Salvage Hunters, professor Frink describes the physics behind this apparent lack of physics.

    It's not that per-se.

It was mentioned in one of the dev-chats that the way they have the crafting recipe pattern matcher coded made it very difficult to perform the salvage en-masse.

I suspect they know it is a pain, but haven't found the time to prioritize a fix. :)

I finally attempted getting into crafting with this release, and I found the UX for the whole process to be a bit counterintuitive and awkward. This thread is good feedback, as it explains a lot to me. I thought I was doing something wrong, and almost gave up on it altogether. My very first reaction was, "wtf, no double click?!"

Id say they have to improve the experience somehow, before the final release. The user base will riot if forced to use it this way in the final game lol.

Yes. Please encourage them to not have the UI turn people off from the depth of crafting.

Right now I add a sword and then add the tool. Click salvage. Click take all (does not drag the whole stack of metal scraps). Grab the next sword, grab the tool again. Repeat. Ita just not fun but salvaging should be entertaining. At least getting better at it is rewarding.

Id like to be able to place the tool on the table and leave it there. Perhaps in a 3rd window in the crafting UI.

    Then I could:
    Double click a sword.
    Salvage
    Double click the scraps back.
    Double click a sword
    Salvage
    Double click the scraps back.

I don't mind doing it all if I can't salvage in batches but please make it as easy as above.

    But, but...

    I already do like this!

    10) drag the tool in the station
    20) drag the item to be scrapped in the station
    30) click salvage
    40) notice all the scraps (and only the scraps!) are already conveniently selected and drag them in inventory, leaving the tool there!!!
    50) GOTO 20

Can be easier, I agree. But this is still pretty quick, if you ask me...

I was dragging the whole pile of metal scraps today. It was pretty quick with existing interface to scrap multiple items.

Sort inventory on left...scrappable items are grouped (e.g. rusty swords all together). Put 1 item and tool on Blacksmith table. Salvage.
Drag scraps to left, drag next item to right. Salvage.

Crazy thought. When you finish a recipe, if you hit the recipe again then the 'product' of the last craft goes back in your inventory and the new mats and tools appear.
So how about another page in your book for salvage 'recipies'? Then use the same mechanic?

Had the same idea, why not try it that way for broken items at least?

Would be a lot of recipes for "item + tool"

When I grab a pile of scraps it takes 1? Do I have a setting messed up?

OK well here is a solution to that :

Look for a pattern and stop on the first match, ignoring anything ELSE in the window ( metal scrap, other salvageables, or whatever)

So your loop would look like, following Katrina Bekers example LOL

10 Drag smithing hammer and all salvageables to craft window
20 Server checks for recipe match. If false, increment recipe. I

Do you have recipe 1 ( 1 x smithing hammer + 1 x rusty sword )? If true, STOP, highlight Salvage button. On click execute THAT recipe, and on completion, re-check new recipe matches. Maybe the second pass will find recipe 2 ( or whatever ) smithing hammer + rusty axe.

This way you can just click [ Salvage ] over and over without a lot of drag and drop. Just have the Salvage routine ignore anything remaining in the window or gratuitous to the recipe. This way we can take 30 rusty whatevers, throw them in the window, click Salvage 30 times, then Take All.

You don't have to convert everything at once, just the first match each pass. Doing it this way would keep it simple. I don't think there is really a way for this to misfire. Your intention is to Salvage whatever you put in the window and it won't matter what order it does it.
