Comet?

I've been tryign to keep an eye on it! but it dissapeared for about a week with the change of seasons. before it dissapeared it was moving through the Justice constellation and it is just now begining to peek back above the horizon

From the Overland Map not too long ago...

 

In Ultima V, comets represented the Shadow Lords.. much in the same way planets in SotA represent the cabalists. To date, all objects in the sky have a purpose. So what purpose does this comet have? (perhaps to be determined?)

So the ion tail should point directly toward the sun. The dust tail shows the orbital path. Can we get a screenshot of both the comet and the sun?
Since the cosmic system we are in is Novia-centric and not Sun-centric, can we determine what this comet may be orbiting (should be Novia) or if it indeed is on a collision course?
Inquiring minds find this amusing. I saw it last night and wondered.

 

These photos were taken just a minutie apart at sunrise. So the tail does indeed always point away fromt he sun! \o/

The weather hasnt been cooperative today since its high enough to clearly see which constellation it occupies but according to the moondail it APPEARS to have moved into the Valor constellation from Justice, can anyone confirm that?
If so, it deffinately is traversing the sky on its own trajectory! Unliek the shardfall which followed the orbital path of the moon that sourced it

Unless that is just tweaks to performance/visuals, wondering if the night sky updates pertain to our curious comet? ))

So THIS is interesting. With the Cabalists being updated, and LB/DS hinting at a big announcement soon, and the narrative pointing to the emergence of something to challenge the Avatar, wondering if the comet is foreshadowing something to come.

 

I wish I could love this, not just like.

 

If it has a trajectory causing it to appear to move against the background of the constellations, and it doesn't appear to be on a collision course, perhaps the celestial object impacts crafting in some way....? Pure speculation...

 

There was a huge comet (larger than the one in your screenshot) in one of my Stag encounter instances last night.

It was very nice to see, but I didn’t make anything of it since I assumed it was a common occurrence....

First time seeing it, which was by accident. This was from Diamond Fields (nested in Port Phoenix by Xenos).

 

Interesting, this is now very noticeable in all the adventure area and world map. Cool stuff.

Definitely a comet. It didn’t just shoot by and disappear. It stuck in the sky almost motionless with a huge fat tail too. It was so awesome. I would have taken a screenshot of it yesterday had I known it was special. -_-

 

Not really. Watched the inversion video as well. They set it rotating all right but it does not seem correct at all, even for a NewBrittania-centric cosmos. I think I said Novia centric above, that would only be partially right.
It was in the East both sunrise and sunset, right? So a comet beyond the circle of the Sun would show a tail behind it with some wiggle up and down. A comet within the circle of the Sun would show a full arc in the same plane we observed, so it would be a tail going long upwards, then short as we looked in line, then long downwards, then short the other way.

Rotating at full length in a plane perpendicular to our observations at the center of things is just not right.... but it is prettier... which is what I suspect they went for. The ion and dust tails are just stock footage from a jpg image and they are not independent. But in EP2 these mechanics will be great!

Maybe I will actually look at my orrery and think some more. Of course that would be a solar system, but is there a word for the NB centric depiction? I am at work, not wanting to delve right now.
