Yes. Drop rate is generally very low, but they can be on anything. The higher the node or mob level is the higher chance, but still very low.

If you check public elastic API, there are some records on when and where it drops, I think.

There is supposed to be a global limiter on how many cotos drop in the game, and apparently for supply bundles as well. Unfortunately this means that those who go in areas that naturally have more chances to drop them are significantly more likely to see them. I personally see a coto drop of any sort maybe once in every three months on average.

 

I've killed thousands of creatures from tier 10 downwards (much less of the tier 8-10 level, of course) in the last few months, and haven't seen a single one.

 

They are pretty much non existent as loot drops in my experience.

 

I’ve never seen one either. But not expecting too either. I’m only now very slowly dipping my toes into Tier 5 stuff....

 

I've played for about a year and had 1 drop

 

I've gotten somewhere between 20 and 30 of various colors. Granted I play a lot... I also feel I've gotten most of them from mining than from loot.

 

You probably know better than I, but I thought the global limiter was more them tweaking the drop rate based on the data they have. I thought Chris said the target was to keep them around 3500-4000 value in gold (roughly a weeks rent for a row home).

It seems like limiting the drop rate is probably the best control for them, as unlike with gold and the raffle, there doesn't seem to me to be a real CotO sink like there for gold with the raffle.

 

The sink is buying stuff with them. However, the non-gold ones really only work for repairs and trading for a specific obsidian potion.

I dont know if this is true or not, but I heard that the less that are in game, the better the drop chance, the more in game, the drop chance goes down. You can see the price of cotos going down cuz once they went beyond the tax price, the best coto sink was taken away. Yes you still use them to buy stuff from coto vendors, but most of the people used to pay taxes with them, and that was pulling tons out of the game. Now that they are worth more then just paying the taxes with coin, that sink is not there, and those people who sell them are probably sitting on tons of them, which if the drop chance is dependent on how many are in game, is killing the drop rate.

 

Yeah, it’s rather amusing that people literally decorate the counters of their Vendors with gigantic sums of them just to decorate their counter tops....

Apparently people have tons of these on hand hehe.

 

I had three , playing since one month before release so the droprate is just so low you can not really make and educated guess right now about droprate (lvl 89)

 

I have four next to a cash register and 20 in total in my possession. I know exactly where they are when I need them. However, the night club down the street it gilt in them

 

In my total time since persistence, I have dropped approximately 120- 130 cotos. I was getting more at the start then I am now.

 

That is my experience as well.
