Yeah, pretty much. Fatal equals dead. As immortals we will rise again, but in order to rise again you have to die. Non fatal never takes you to dead. I was thinking mutilation like loss of fingers, loss of hand, loss of eye, stuff a normal person would live through.

Now, if every time we got one of these, it gave a persistent scar that remained no matter how many times we rose from the dead, that would be awesome. And hopefully not too hard on the programmers.

I guess it also matters when you dismember or mutilate someone.
If he was still dead you can cut off about anything and once he rose he would have to find out how to piece himself back together.
If you were back to life already then cutting off the head should kill you again whereas a finger would just wound you.
Either way this is probably to morbid for the game.

Makes me wonder why the avatar was killing those skeletons and the liche in the demo.. maybe those are our immortal brethren?

No but he did talk about dismembering.

Not sure what happens to our body if we do go through the blender.
That could leave a few scars.

So. There is a lot of discussion about crime, PvP, PK, grief, flagging, justice. Why? Aside from it starting to get very repetitive and boring, it only serves as a distraction.

Everyone here knows already that Player Vs Player will be optional. That means you must choose to enter into a game mode with The magicpvpsliderbarthingy(TM). Not only that, but when you do as such The magichandshakesliderbarthingy(TM) will then prevent all players who have not optionally selected a hardcore game mode with PvP on The magicpvpsliderbarthingy(TM) from connecting to your game instance.

    It really is quite simple.

If all PvP is optional, then all laws can be thrown out the window. There is simply no need. Let us hardcore players have our fun in the dog eat dog world of chaos while people who don't want PvP are happily chopping down trees.

But allow them to visit from time to time... Once they see the beauty we create, I am sure they will be more interested in staying than in leaving :p

    Peace.

And really, who can argue against wanting to participate in a no-rules PvP-fueled testosterone-filled world with people like the OP?

I'm majorly excited about this game but being a Rp'er and a pvp'er I am thinking the pvp side is going to be a major dissappointment sadly

I agree compleatly. I think flagging / bad karma is the worst of all choices. Either:
    1) FFA (as you suggest)
    2) Some kind of faction / team system where you have people tagged as allies and others tagged as enemies. The allies can't be attacked and the enemies can be engaged with no consequences.

Every discussion of crime and punishment is just wrapping band aids on top of band aids each making a bad idea worse.

I don't want faction based PvP. A lot of time it's peeps of my own faction I want to put to the torch, but can't, which results in extreme frustration and broken keyboards/monitors = ragequit and psychotherapy.

Which is why you have co-op rules like gw2 does. Once you share nodes and kills, these problems go away.
There will be trolls in any game no matter what the rules are. This setup has the least amound of unnecessary friction.

Just as long as players aren't faction based. I want to be able to suck the soul out of anybody I so choose, for whatever reason I may have.
