Don't Fear the Reaper: Use the Cowbell

For "fun" I looked through my chat logs. I'm at 398, no bell.

 

@Cora Cuz'avich @Chris @Lexie -- I've killed well past an OCD level of Reapers as well. Total count: 258!



Since I'm sharing, let's go full disclosure.

1) I'm mostly doing Ulfheim -- all but about 3 were killed there.
2) From the Reapers, I've acquired Glowing Belt Buckles and even a Blue Supply Bundle, but no cowbells and no shirt recipes.

There is a possibility that Ulfheim's reapers are missing the Cowbells and Recipes from their loot tables, but since we're comparing what we think is just bad luck, I figured we should get to the bottom of this quickly. I've recently heard that parties have been slaying Reapers where nearly everyone received a cowbell. Maybe its the zone? Maybe its that I've been doing it in Party mode.

[Follow-up: Looks like bad luck is all it is, some people have posted that it isn't Ulfheim and I believe them.]

I received my cowbell, 2 glowing belt buckles, and 2 short recipes from Ulfheim. That is the only place I am farming reapers.

 

Add fire arrow, use disabling shots and fireflies and stack/charge the glyphs (mainly rapid fire).
Try the small island in Greymark Forest as there are no other mobs.
If you cannot bring him down in few mins then forget it (he will regain health faster than you are loosing focus) and join a party.
You can ping me in game to support, but not the next days - I need a pause from reapers and death bunnies and relax by mining some ore.

 

Me and a friend we are farming Ulfheim for several nights in a row now, our count is >350 Reapers killed, 2 medieval short shirt recipes, no cowbell yet ...

 

with all the Avatars killing hundreds of reapers without getting a bell I was wondering if I was wrong with my count, so I went through my chatlogfiles.
And I was wrong:

Reaper Nr. 11 : Recipe
Reaper Nr. 22: Cowbell
Reaper Nr. 34: Cowbell 2

Seems like I was EXTREMELY lucky with reapers.

I am assuming, at this point, it's still just my bad luck. I've gone a week or two without getting a supply bundle, and then gotten three yellows in one trip through Crag Foothills. My guess is that once I do (if ever) get a bell, I might get several in short order if I weren't so sick of killing reapers that I probably won't enter a forest for a month once it happens.

Can confirm that cowbells do drop from Ulfheim reapers.

Has anyone looted the cowbell in Savrenoc Stronghold yet?

 

Had a person or two in my guild get them from Savrenoc. But I have no luck, anywhere Reapers are.

 

I've only killed 40 reapers so far, so I guess I probably have a lot more to go judging by the sounds of things. I did get the shirt recipe though and 3 heartwood so far.
