Elf Archer image revealed on Ten Ton Hammer

I'm in the process of writing something, where I want to reference something that happened in a past Ultima game, but it wouldn't apply to any major characters or plot points, so it wouldn't be clear to the average reader that it was referencing an Ultima game.. also some other things that would be more obvious references, but could be rewritten to be less obvious... so I'm interested in this.

Also, I'm wondering about references to Lord British.

 

Are these guys going to a playable race or is everyone human? I am under the impression that we are all starting out as human, but I hope I'm wrong....

 

Yes, one could say the facts have been muddled due to being passed down through so many generations, ala oral tradition.

I remember hearing that we would be playing humans. At least for episode 1.

 

From what I understand, you can only play humans in Episode 1, who are Avatars travelling from Earth. But they never ruled out other races living in New Britania or being playable races in future episodes.

 

I believe Shamino is now a name of a river on the new map. But it seems like most lore from the old Britania was lost with the Cataclysm.

 

I guess my follow up question would be: If we start is episode one as a human and they add other races in the game later, do we get more character slots or do we have to delete our original character?

 

This has got to be a joke. I just watched R.G. video where he said .In this world there would not be any elves,dwarfs,orcs. Dam confused again

Tracy Hickman could have convinced him to change his mind after he was brought on to do story.

I've asked the same question recently. They could go the SWTOR route and just let you fully change race after the fact, or add character slots moving forward.

I really hope they add character slots.

Actually it is spelled "Shimano" in the Blade of the Avatar novel, which is why I used that spelling.

I liked the idea that the people would have named the river after a famous individual from before the Fall, but failed to spell it right due to obscurity.

 

If they said everyone was forced to play a Bobbit or Fuzzy, I would call that a joke.

 

Personally I feel that Elves should of not been included in the game, UO for me when I first fell in love was a game that sort of followed real life in the exception of magic...,like another world to live in, elves just goes way off track.

 

It's still open exactly how Lord British fits into all of this going forward.

Is he currently ruler of New Britannia? Was the land named for a long lost king remembered now for his former glory? Was he instrumental against the forces of the Obsidian Empire? Does their influence yet remain shrouding this world? What becomes of the Virtues, unknown and forgotten? Will the Codex remain lost in Void ethereal?

 

What about all the monsters? It is okay to have dragons, but not Elves, because Elves aren't real?

 

Perhaps a way to think of them is as Elf-like creatures, named such due to their striking physical similarity to creatures from Earth mythology.

It is a convenient term to use that conveys more than a simple word. They could have called them "Obsidian Batch #1032", but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
