New Here, but I have a need

Guys, I've been following SotA since the beginning of the kickstarter campaign. I held off and held off on getting involved. I've had many heartbreaks in the things I've held dear for a long time. From Star Wars and Star Trek, Ultima Online 2, to Tabula Rasa and many many more. (Richard, I know Tabula wasn't your fault.)

I'm tired. I'm tired of looking for a game that doesn't exist. I'm tired of trying to find a dream that no one else shares anymore. So please understand why it took so long to get around to joining you all.

I've been a fool.

What has been made here is a pure, unadulterated magic. It's like they reassembled the Blues Brothers, the band is back together and there is plenty of gas to get to Chicago. I'll be throwing every spare minute, every spare cent and all my enthusiasm back to where it all started.

When I turned on the game for the first time, I heard music that came from a place of memory. I saw a world that existed that I thought would be lost to me forever.

Seriously, my eyes sweated a little.

To those of you here from the start, thank you for carrying the faith. To those who haven't joined, if you ever played the Ultimas (or Ultima Online) and found a touch of peace there, if you've ever looked for a world to make your own and feel a connection to, this is your opportunity to get it back.

I had to say this to someone, somewhere, and I wasn't even sure there was a place for it. I'll share my memories of the past with all of you. From exploding dragons, and demons defeated with words instead of weapons.

But this is a future I can honestly look forward to. My kids can grow up hanging out in with their father. A place where the ephemeral can meet the physical.

I'm about to fire up R22, and I am giddy with excitement.

Forgive me in my enthusiasm. I will be asking many questions that may be buried someplace and I've been unable to find the specific answers. But trust that I will always be humbled by this gathering of lost souls.

 

I think my eyes may have sweated a bit too reading this. Thank you for your words and thank you for joining us.

My original UO name was Niles MacTavish (Or his blacksmith brother Geoff, he was a drunk though.) My tamer was named Sol Roth, and I've used that name since. But with a new start, I am considering something new.
