R17 Student Quest (Spoilers)

I'm ok having quests without detailed hints that leave one to find items randomly during the course of many days, weeks or months of adventure.

Many past MMOs have trained us to think of tasks (FedX this, kill that) as quests. When, indeed, they are just tasks. Tasks tend to be forgettable.

A real quest is something that happens over some period of time that involves thinking, searching, connecting dots, and discovery. A real adventure. Not just a package delivery. Not just an errand. Not just a forum look up. Real quests are unforgettable.

 

I just went back and got the Chaos Statue with the same character. So apparently all you need to do with Gina is give her 12 books regardless of what else you've done.

 

Really? She told me earlier something to the effect of eww you're virtue go away. Will go back and try again.

 

Would you call this a real quest? Because I completed it both ways without ever finding anything myself. I'm left to wonder what the point of it all was. Especially when you consider that if the books didn't reappear so fast we'd have to do it all over again for the second statue.

 

Really. I made sure to put my virtue statue in the bank first though. Perhaps that had something to do with it?

 

Yup she still said it again to me told me to go away, but I said books to her this time and she gave it to me. Thank you much Drocis!

 

Who knows how it's supposed to work or why it works the way it does? Not me.

I also said "books" and that was the trigger. Which is good since I'm still level 5, have no weapons or offensive magic and had an army of Dark Elves chopping me up.

 

Hehe, they beat my level 5 alt up earlier too, lol.

 

Ok, I'm having trouble finding the book at the tower of the shuttered eye. Is it really on the ground outside the tower?

EDIT: Ah - Found it. It had a strange graphic distortion...it looked like a column of books.

Aye, as Themo said, it looks similar to a wooden board standing up next to a tree at the tower, it's a graphics glitch. Sorry didn't respond sooner, went to bed and didn't see your post til this morning

That was the first one I tried to get so I had no clue about the one in the cemetery. Retrospectively, I wish I would have started there. It would have saved me an hour running around shuttered eye. lol.

 

For the life of me I cannot find the one on the East Perennial Trail. I found the massive ruin, but I can't seem to locate the old farmhouse or moonshine hut, whatever it is called.

 

I think this is now fixed.

Edit: I never put it in the bank, but I did drop it at my house before talking to her. Maybe dropping it in the bank made the difference??

When you enter the East Perennial Trail, there is a small house to your left. It's inside.

Are we supposed to be able to get both statues?

 

Tell her books and she will take them then.

Does the Virtue Statue look like an Ankh then? Curious to see what that looks like as well.

Also, have you all read the stories within the books? I found them to be quite well done, very reminiscent of Aesop's Fables. I think my favorite one so far is the Chains of False Beliefs. That's the one, I believe, talking about the bug stinging the man's hand as he tries to rescue it.
