ROFL!!! omg you are right there - would give a whole new dimension and reason for PvP.... would need a BIG gang to carry away all those millions though....
they'd try and keep it hush-hush, you'd need an informant inside his trust to let you know when the shipment would happen.....

.... WOW the possibilities are wide open for the enterprising PvP gang leader!!
indeed a whole new dimension of fun is added... maybe I should change my vote ;D

First off… no player is ever going to transfer that much gold by wagon. Why? Well if you can’t carry it and have to use a wagon, how will you be able to spend it?

Player- I’d like to buy that million gold widget you have there.
Shopkeep- Sure just give me the gold…
Player- I’d like to but I couldn’t carry it… can I roll my wagon in here and give that to you?

If carrying that much gold is an issue then there will have to be letters or other items that can be converted back and forth to gold... therefore eliminating the need for wagons of player gold. And if you just eliminated the wagon raid fun.. why go to the extreme of adding extra mechanics?

Not sure if that is sarcasm or not but adding weight to coins adds 15-20 new scenarios just like you explained. 15-20 new scenarios equates to 100's of different game play opportunities.

    Not all PvP scenarios.

I would love wagon escort quests through chokepoints and shardfalls. Maybe if we can get the right tools we can create these scenarios in pvp towns. Devs we need gypsy wagons so we can do escort quests!!

If there was a reward at the end it would work great. As a player run quest both sides would put up matching wagers on the outcome. If the wagon train is stopped and enemies killed the bandits get the purse, if the wagon train makes it to the established goal, then the defenders get the purse. Sounds pretty cool to me! :)

but that's different than someone needing to transfer gold to make a simple purchase. What you describe is a fun mission... but not a player carrying gold around to buy something... why should he get a reward?

... the easy solution... just don't let any spend over a certain amount unless you have a llama or donkey from the pack animal stretch goal. There done and we've force people to get the stretch goal too!

well one could put the gold on the wagon, and if the wagon is taken by the bandits then thats the bandits reward. The quest though would take player co operation and a reward must be paid to the wagon at the end of the escort if it makes it there.

I'm not disagreeing that it sounds like fun... I'm just saying using it to justify gold weight is not a valid reason when everything else in the game has unrealistic weight too. Also, no one will want to transfer their gold by wagon, they will use other things that should be created like checks, etc... to make purchases for large ticket items. That shop keeper is not going to want to take that wagon of gold off your hands... :)

I don't know, as a shop keeper, I would never refuse a wagon filled with gold....

I would... too big of a target... I'd tell them to stick it in the bank and get a letter of credit... hmm why does that sound familiar?
