how does one start the path of Courage?

Don't think the courage quest is done yet, my journal entry in the Path of Courage led me back to Soltown as the quest line is a work in progress.

 

You start it, naturally, if you identify in the mirror as a warrior. I think the rest of us (archers and mages) can likely pick it up in the warrior starting town. Recommend starting a warrior character in offline single player to learn about it first unless you are going warrior anyway.

 

Courage path - Highvale Battle and Resolute are the main first scenes.

 

I went there before r33. talked to alot of npc's in a pursuit of different quest. Guess I am headed back.

 

Kind of interesting, I've never done a quest yet, and mine are -85, 0, and 40 for Truth, Love, Courage, respectively (yes, minus 85 ) .
And I've never stolen anything, either. Outside of killing monsters for XP, my NPC interaction has been buying and selling, that's it. Maybe I need to start stealing stuff?

Don't know if endlessly killing oracle bugs counted as a virtue hit, but most certainly looting corpses did me in, especially in blood river. (they should have fixed this before going to persistance) I left no corpse unturned.
At this point, I don't know how to undo this other than talking to every NPC and being truthful with them.

Edit: Would be nice if Portalarium had a mechanism in place where you could undo some of this for a price. I would gladly trade in one of my gold COTOs for a 'bottle of virtue repair'' or something like that.

Edit 2: This really does remind me of Ultima 4 when I would do virtue checks. But at least, with a bit of work, it was possible to bring a very negative score back out of the gutter.

 

I don't know about raising Truth, but I know you can get a good amount to Courage by choosing not to ransom another player's items when you kill them in a duel or PvP. The Oracle will tell you that you showed honor in that decision and the next time you meet your fellow avatar in battle they will be armed for another fight. I did a few friendly duels with a guildy and gave him back his stuff every time. I went from 60 to 80 in courage over three duels.

Hmm I noticed my Courage virtue going up when I soloed Elysium Mines. When I checked with the Oracle, she (it?) said I freed a slave by killing his enslaver. The best part is, I killed that faun too because it was irritating the **** outta me (it followed me all the way to the Earth Elementals down below and kept casting root and confuse even though I tried very hard to ignore it).

Was wondering about that. Always thought one would take a virtue hit by killing fauns. Did you kill it before or after killing the Satyr?

It could be that our "Oracle" is still under development by our Portalarium team just as we have seen with many other elements within our game. Or maybe the enslaved once freed did not know it had ever been freed and was continuing it's only known existence of captive purpose. I mean "there's only a few ways to explain such a thing aye" ?'

I killed the faun after killing the Satyr. However, he was constantly trolling me with spells even when I left it alone, so I guess the Courage didn't take a hit.

In another example, my guild mate killed a faun and got -5 Courage. I believe the faun was either not attacking anymore, or saying something like "Please, no more". It's hard to say for sure, but my advice would be to avoid killing any Fauns if possible unless you get so frustrated with that darn thing it doesn't matter if your virtue takes a hit or not.

 

OK, I will go with the Oracle being broken. Now, where is that Oracle repair person in Novia

 

I guess that makes the difference. I always go after the faun first. It makes tactical sense since the faun seems to have an endless supply of reagents. I will just have to be quick in taking out the Satyr and see how that works for me.

 

I want a reprieve from Lord British for my 'alleged' misdeeds.
