This game has been taking backward steps since R12

Interesting claim, as UO went live on September 24th, 1997.

Sir_Hemlock have you attended a player event where you can dress up and use your /emote commands to dance or what not? If thats not entertaining try dropping a dust ball and you can continually cast spells on it in the middle of a crowd while listening to Avatar Radio. -seems to be what everyone but me enjoys.

Oh and lets not forget dustball soccer!! /emote cheers and claps.... hours on end.

Seems to me that someone was having fun playing only a small portion of the game and that portion has constantly undergone changes. Changes that can't bring back the past and can't be envisioned as fun.

SotA is not exactly a game yet. It's still not complete enough to be called a game. Only playing a portion is expected. Being less than happy with the changes is also expected.

Normally this is where I'd say wait a few releases and check things out again but we are quickly coming up to the final wipe. Taking a break wouldn't be all that long.

To say the game has been taking steps backwards since R12 then pointing at things like the engine. That comes off as a tantrum. The engine didn't cause the change.

PvP is not going back to the way it was in R12 and I bet there are plenty of people that will bring up reasons why R12 sucked for PvP. It's all perspective.

Not sure if this is the right place to say it, but I've been posting criticisms and suggestions about various aspects of this game almost since there was a game to comment on. And it doesn't look like consideration was given to any of it. Well nothing that was incorporated into the game at least. Suggestions that were shared by many other backers too. Just saying.

By the way, after the game goes live in a few months, I'm pretty sure we can expect to see lots more negative feedback like this on steam or other places. Sorry, hope I'm wrong, but that's my prediction. Reasoning: such a smal, small % of gamers are going to care about the massive attention and care put into pots, housing, and décor, etc. if the rest of the game (read: NON-RP parts) still come off as half-baked (which is another prediction). The gaming community at large can be quite vicious you know. Half-baked games tend to get shredded mercilessly. Unless this is planned to be a private game?

 

What game are you playing that's going live in a few months?

 

Isn't Shroud supposed to be finished by the end of this year?

 

That's EIGHT months. Final wipe is in a few months.

If you honestly think this game will be feature-complete and polished in 8 months dude then I've got a seaside condo in Arizona you might be interested in also.

 

And this is why semantics is such a helpful skill to have. Define those terms and there is no confusion. 8^p

 

The entire game is not gonna be finished within a few months. They will release episode 1 by the end of the year then continue working on episode 2.

 

What pledge level includes the Arizona seaside condo? and when does that pledge expire? want to create some urgency around getting it.

 

You mean pretty couches they designed for one of their dungeons anyway and decided to also make available to us

 

If EP1 is not amazing, the ship will sail. Few will stick around for EP2-5.

Please remember I'm not posting this to be a jerk, I'm posting my fear of what is going to happen to this game. Tabula Rasa?
