    Being we do not know much about the underground biom and how they will be designed, I propose we throw our underground Ideas into this thread here to start a compilation of Underground designs. Here is mine. It is still rough but it will serve until we can get some acknowledgement on how to proceed.

    I did use the city lot design from winfields thread. So each unit is set inside a city lot. I know the positioning in the lots are not totally accurate. I have been working on this for awhile and some things I forgot to update. You get the idea however. Also I felt the need for a new thread on this specific subject being it is kind of a different beast to topside player towns. There are templates for NPC towns above ground but the below ground ones are yet to be seen.

    Well I don't have anything drawn up, not really an artist. But what i was hoping for was something like... say something like the inside of an enormous extinct volcano. One HUGE cavern (maybe a couple of side cavernish areas) with the town in the middle-ish somewhere, and perhaps an underground lake and small river going through. The very top could be open to the sky.

    anyway that's what i was hoping for.

    and btw, thank you for starting this thread Ravicus :D

    That sounds really cool. I am hoping for a cavernous area also. So thats two of us! :)

    I believe amber raine wants her town in a volcano also. I could be wrong, but it could be possible. Also I think that Abydos wants some volcano action also. You might not be alone thinking about volcano's!

    Looks cool. I do like the idea of underground towns. I'm hoping there will be 1 major underground city. Maybe like the gargoyle cities amongst the lava in Serpent Isle. Most games focus so much on the map and the world, that they totally abandon the idea of the underworld being any large portion of the game. Hopefully this game has more than house plots, hopefully it can be a game with a unique elaborate underworld system of connected dungeons. I'm a fan of Pagan, I know a lot of people didn't like that game, but when that game was re-hashed and re-made and called Diablo people liked it. I liked Pagan a lot more than any of the Diablos. The elaborate catacombs, they were fun and interesting to navigate and memorize.

    Going back to the scene jam, Grant and I did a town that was inside a seaside cave. I've always thought that would be a cool idea.

    Apparently I've misplaced my screenshots of that though. They should be posted in a really old thread around here somewhere.

    Found it. :) Sorta.. was more or less something like this.. along with side tunnels with smaller cavern areas.

    I really like this thread! The underground biome is a bit of a mystery to me, and possibly to devs and players alike. I am so encouraged by the PoT community coming up with ideas and sharing them. We will have opportunities to get our designs, ideas, and desires in to Portalarium soon if the Weekly Update today (PoT Submission Form in design) is any indication, and I think it is.

    If I may comment a bit /pontificate ... *smiles*:

    These are exciting times to see what creativity is revealed by Players and Devs, given some resource and mechanics constraints of course.​

    Remember though... this is a 5+ year game (20+ in my opinion)!​

    This is just the start... our towns will grow in design and abilities over the years. I am all in. I think we are in something BIGGER than we can even envision right now. New ideas, new approaches to game design, and many veterans and new people all getting their heads together. It's fabulous.​

    If you are a player town owner and plan on having an Underground Biome, please express interest in this thread. As of the last update #124 there is mention of "Player Owned Town Submission Form". Now this might be the last best time to get our voices heard about our choices involving templates. Please try to at least post here if you are thinking about doing an Underground Biome also as to try to get a count of how many of us there are. Good fortune awaits us all, but we need to persevere through these times of trial!!!
