I hope so! I vaguely remember that as well, so however they do it technically, I'd just like to feel that the feeling of physical distance in the game has grown. It gives the feeling of the world being that much bigger.

What is your basis for saying that it hasn't doubled? The only thing I can see is that the hexes are still pretty discernable on the coasts and on the roads. However, I noticed that the map is not a brand new drawing. It looks like it was just modified from the original before the doubling. Therefore, my supposition is that the size doubled, but in order to accelerate the delivery of the map, they decided not to start from scratch on the drawing.

The longitude and lattitude lines did not change. If a continent has physically doubled in size, one would expect it to grow beyond its initial boundaries of a coordinate system. Granted, they could have increased the size of the planet to accomodate and retained map scale.

Exactly. I was an EQ player back in the day. There were some zones that would take 20 minutes to run across. I loved how large that made the world feel.

    I think they did.

I was actually wondering if they would just create a second continent or something then we'd be more likely to believe that the map had doubled in size.

Yea, I assume the globe size changed. We know that Novia is the middle continent of a 3x3 grid, so if they make this once twice as big, the other squares will be twice as big as well (they don't have to be, but I don't think they'd use a different set of world map rules). Like a balloon being blown up, you don't get more meridians. The distance between them might be wider in the 'real world,' but the map won't show any difference if you scale it to the same piece of 'paper.'

Yep, that's the only logical explanation. And speaking of longitude and lattitude and the planet...at least we can say Novia still sits above the equator. Trying to envision that 3x3 grid mapping on a globe though...

I spent about 20 minutes adding the puzzle pieces to the map and got all excited when I figured it out, wanted to share it and then found Smack (and Link) beat me to it. Nice job both of ya, it'll be fun to revisit this post as more pieces get released.

Yea, I laid it out on a full size globe map. They're gonna have to fuzz up the laws of physics to get it to fit. The globe only uses 90 degrees from equater to pole, and the top of Novia is 70 degrees. I suspect that the middle top could be a frozen wasteland, i.e. tundra and glaciers, and the other two on either end can be treated more like Canada and Russia, cold and snowy, but not quite so lifeless as the poles.

Here's my draft of the entire world map.

I was thinking the same, but I believe RG has taken an expedition to the antarctic, so I can't help but think he wants to take us some place similar.

Only one map piece reveal this time! Updated my post above. Map's looking good! I hope once all the reveals are done they'll release the final one without it all cut up.
