    I've been into some ghost towns, but i think in general once we get close to final wipe and launch the pots will come to life. For how long? Who knows...

    In theory, a pot is a beautiful thing. Pot owners just need as many tools to make their own town as unique as can be.

    I can't help but wonder how many POT owners will cry foul once they realize that no one will ever live in their POTs they paid so much for, because there aren't enough lot deeds to go around.

    There's not enough lots.
    There's too many lots.
    POTS are bad for scarcity.
    POTS are good for scarcity.
    We won't have enough castle and keep lots.

    What exactly does your comment have to do with anything that I said?

    Edit: For the record, I was not saying that there are not enough lots. I'm saying there are not enough lot deeds to go around. Considering the fact that POTs are unlimited, but lot deeds are very limited, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots.

    rune_74, you put this in your OP and then continued to mention POTs several times in this thread.

    I double checked and you're actually the first person in this thread to turn the conversation to POTs

    Are people not allowed to respond when you make these comments?

    Back on the topic of maps and all that stuff, I'm hoping if and when they do add stuff on to it, it won't lag like the towns and stuff? Like weather, in the regular scenes, it lags me like crazy Q.Q

    The Overland Map is cancer eating a hole in the body of this potentially EPIC Open world game. The real issue here is? clearly the feedback they have received is telling yet they do nothing. There is nothing more i'd like to see than the overland map system get scrapped and thrown out and the world fused back together seamlessly. That would cause a majority of people to return back to the game. Until then i cannot do it. Between this ridiculous immersion destroying instance fest and the card casting system, I quit almost a year ago now. My friend is in over 800 dollars and he is looking for a way out. Major disappointment.

    Card combat is just a combat system. Ultima was never about combat. The overworld map was present in the kickstarter, and a key feature in the development of this game. It's integral to the design. Selective multiplayer functions in part by choosing how to group people from instance to instance. Being able to dynamically change hexes throughout the game world without effecting the rest of the game world is part of the design. being able to create alternative scenes for any given hex is a part of the design, which all benefits from the use of the overworld map.

    I think once we can see all the systems in play and working, we'll be quite satisfied with the map, and how it supports our gameplay experience.

    absolutely right. I'm sure that using the overland map as part of the gameplay is key to make SotA a revolutionary game. People just can't picture the potential it has... Way more than an open world. The thing is people knows what's awesome of an open world (because there are plenty of games that gives you those) but almost nobody experienced what's awesome of an overworld map (because not many games use that system currently, and most of the awesomeness planned for the overland map is not implemented).

    Having more game mechanics related with the overland map is the way to go.

    There is no chance of making this open world at this point. It would literally put them back well over a year. Not to mention all the new content they would have to add to fill out the newer world.

    TBH, is an overland map with countless zones better than a giant open world? NO. But if they are able to use the overland map in a unique way then maybe they are onto something. We should be getting new scenes on a monthly basis i would hope using this system. Otherwise why use it?

    Until all of your characters got magic axes :D

    But... aside from that.. I agree. U6 combat was also similar. Combat went downhill with U7.

    Now back to talking about the world map.
