    Could this be something similar to the /play command?

    Player 1 target's Player 2
    Player 1: /hug sync
    Player 2 gets chat text that Player 1 wants to hug
    Player 2 target's Player 1
    Player 2: /hug
    Move the characters into position, like we do when using crafting tables, then both play the emote

    i've seen something similar once before - player 2 didn't have to target because by accepting it, they simply sync together. less need for human interaction.

    that particular game had a variable system it seems, on that emote. because if you didn't have anyone targeted, you had your own standalone anim ation.. i'm thinking if it were hug, you'd find the nearest wall, face it, and see your arms wrapped around your sides lol

    Well...only if both players should be able to control movement while doing so.
    For a hug or a dance like Viennese Waltz that is not necessary since they can designate one participant to lead and the other to follow. Which means that you could implement one of many MMO tricks here.

    First the scenario:
    Player A asks Player B to dance
    Player B gets to [Accept or Decline] and accepts, since Player A asked it is the one that 'leads'
    <<from this point Player B no longer controls any movements and is instead moved by Player A>>
    The avatars gfx are no longer seperate but moved at the same time by Player A.
    For Player B this can sometimes look like such lag skips as when you "follow" someone.
    Player A then moves the dancing couple around the floor a couple of laps, both avatars doing the waltz animation.
    Either player can abort the emote at any time, just like with regular emotes. This then returns movement control to Player B (which could lead to a small lag-skip).
    If either is attacked or similar the pair-emote breaks.

    The hug emote would be nice, and a hug remote would be even better. Imagine targetting Themo and Ravicus ! :)
