No! Not what you are all thinking!

It always annoyed me that you can't lay down and realy pull the blancet over your body. Just like RG understands the importants of being able to sit on a chair. Please, please do not let the beds in your house be only a decoration. For roleplaying when i say good night. Or i roleplay i am sleeping and do not want to be disturbed.

And lets all admit it: a sleeping avatar in his bed is the best way to roleplay : AFK

I like it Myrcella. However, this means more animation work for the team... But, I like it.. Bring a random buff (+ 2 fishing skill for the next 20 mins!) after a good night sleep! :)

In addition to this, I'd like to see that avatars get tired and hungry.. and cold and wet. There should be benefits to logging out in a bed over just logging out while standing in the street.. to taking the time to setup camp, rather than standing next to a guard at the bank.

There should be physical benefits to seeking out shelter from the rain, eating food periodically, and building and sitting by fires.

I love the bed blanket sleep animation! Not for 'afk', but yay for beds for sleeping inside.

The dreams idea is really cool...it could work like a server log...

While you were away, the following happened...

    1) The town was sieged.
    2) Your house was on fire.
    3) Your house was visited by the following players...
    4) A message arrived for you.

    Cool.

Bedroll. Tent. The Hairy Man already got to send both in as asset items, along with other 'camp' assets. Not that I personally want a sleeping item to be a way to show that I'm afk, but you asked. ;)

From a roleplaying standpoint being able to lie in bed is HUGE. I can't count the times in UO that someone was sick, injured, giving birth, etc and we had to RP with the bedridden person standing at the side the bed.

You know what? I think Lord British have thought of bed animations seeing as he seemed very happy that he now could sit on a chair! Also yes, beds would add alot to RP and that's why I mainly want to play this game, it's so much I want in other online games for RP but it isn't there (I guess many devs doesn't want to "waste" time on that) but I hope that LB and the dev team here will make my wishes come through and I can't wait to share my RP moments with anyone that want to share their moments with me.

Will we be able to murder people while they're sleeping? What about murdering LB?

Great ideas, think this would go a long way in the logic of, "everything in the world should be interactive and have a use," that we here LB talking about and I'm all for that.
If they go with the idea of rested exp like you find in other games, this would be a great way to implement that. If you go to sleep before logging out, you could gain rested exp for leveling up when you return.

The animation work to allow people to sleep wouldn't be that expensive to create, and the RP benefits would be great. Sleeping in a bed in an oporpg is the modern equivalent to sitting in a chair in the 1990's. Good thread!

I think as Richard told us how important it was for him to be able to sit on a chair in Ultima i might tell him to go the next big step to convince him how important it is to lay down in your bed or roleplay sleeping at a campfire.

So pushing this topic back up.
I know they consider it low low tiny important. But connecting it with his chair argument back in UO might help to create awarenes

Yes, yes and please. Even a few very simple bed poses would do the trick. On your back and on your side, work for almost everything we might need, we can RP either of those for most scenes. More is lovely but there you go.

Yes.. A Few Simple Bed Animations Wouldn't Take Too Much Dev Time At All...And Would Add A Lot For The Players Who Want To Suspend Their Disbelief While Playing.
