I'd love the option to use both third person, and first person at my convenience. To me each serve their own purpose in varying scenarios.

in dungeons it should be mandatory, otherwise you should be able to switch in/out like the "Sherlock Holmes" games. However, as somebody already pointed out, it could be cheating if one party is in 1st and another party is in third. I prefer it mostly in dungones. I find top down dungones uniteresting(Baldur's Gate, Darkstone, Dungeon Siege Ultima 6,7,8 ect) too much revealed. Ultimas 2-5 much more challenging to navigate.

I think first person should at least include a maximum 120 degree FOV. A sliding scale from 70-120 or so would be ideal. I know most folks don't care for the "fisheye" effect that can occur, but it does really make it more immersive than a terribly limited 70-90 degree viewing angle imo.

Totally agree with this, it should be configurable to a degree. I think I usually set mine around 90-100 when playing Skyrim.

I'm the same way. I'm really hoping they give the option to "zoom" into first person for those of us that want it.

There will likely be a first person view; however realize that in games like Skyrim, custom animations are made for the character's hands in front of the screen. This translates to more work for the designers. I don't know if this is a priority for them.

Id like to be able to decide, third person is ok, but for immersion and Rp I feel like 1st Person is far superior.

Yea, I don't think you can just move the camera in on the third person model and have a first person mode. I think you have to provide a whole separate set of assets.

3rd person, as in WoW is totally different from first person. But 3rd person over the shoulder (like Neverwinter) is basically the same. 3rd person would have completely different meaning for the mouse, buttons, WASD, the whole way targeting works, etc. I'm hoping they can make it like Neverwinter. You feel the character a lot more while also having much better opportunities for combat. 3rd person is really only better if you're controlling 4 different characters and want them to stand on different squares in a room. And while those types of puzzles did exist in the old ultima games, I think this will feel much more like you're playing one character.

I don't want the first person view personally because it makes me nauseus. I have never been able to play first person perspective games. However, it should definately be an option for those who like it. There is no reason not to include the ability to adjust perspectives.

I absolutely love 3rd person. I always like to feel as though I'm watching myself undertake a journey. Weird eh lol

third person is best in mmo's as they tend not to be the best looking games with textures and models

Not really. As for the quote in your Sig, it is inaccurate, you describe a psychopath, not a sociopath.

    First person = No

For me I wouldn't mind first person being an option, but since this is a fantasy role playing game I like having the option to see my character from a third person birds eye view perspective.

I'm ok with first person as long as it's not forced on you.

Would love to have first person view. Never played an MMO that didn't have it.
