The game really needs these to go along with the mushrooms. Plus I need something else to stick. Durin Toadsticker
yes frogs and toads, owls, snakes, and mice are also needed. While I hate mice in real life New Britannia is missing these little pests
I remember in Ultima IX, frogs showing up on bridge railings when it was raining. There were a lot of things U9 did wrong, but this was one thing it did right. SotA is sorely missing those small atmospheric touches. I would not just like to see frogs on bridges, but crabs on rocky shoals, seagulls on piers, crows on blighted trees, ducks in ponds, owls in forests, etc... Too much focus on monsters to kill IMO. Part of the joy of being in an RPG is the small things that make the world more real and make you want to stay put and live in it for a while. Its not just about killing and looting.
@majoria70 An old thread I put up to illustrate this (w/ mockup screenshots of how it would look in game): Birdwatching in Novia. And a related thread with a slight overlap: Low-hanging monsters.
Id like those things too. But ONLY if they are interractive/killable/collectible. Birds too. Should be able to shoot seagulls out of the sky. Or follow an eagle across the plains, up a mountsinside to its nest and steal its eggs.
I have to look at U9 again. I dont remember the frogs. I remember vultures would circle over the swamp + land to eat the entrails of slain creatures. Always wished giant eagles would pluck small goats from the cliffs or carry away small children.
