If we cut out sections of the Medieval culture that anyone has a pet gripe against there would be nothing left and it would become a very bland/sterile game...

There is nothing that says you have to import religion into a fictional game. As far as I know people weren't hurling lightning bolts at each other during the middle ages, and yet this is in the game.

Arguably witches/warlocks are consistent with Medieval times, regardless though removing things to satisfy our prejudices is very different to adding new content to the game which of course enriches it

Adding something to suit your prejudices is no better. I'd prefer not to have religion forced down my throat, thank you.

Who says religion isn't in this game already??? It seems to me that SotA seems to have some very "religious" acting groups. For one thing there are these "virtues".

When people follow some kind of laws rules and regulations, as a means of attaining some kind of metaphysical enlightenment sounds very much like every religion on earth.

Also the Obsidians in the book Blade of the Avatar, (I don't want to say any spoilers), but the way they approach bringing "order" to the world, has a kind of "religious" feel to it as well. The obsidians seem to be motivated by a "higher purpose", and anybody who is not with them are against them (another theme that is found in many religions on earth).

    ************************

The above examples fit my definition of religion. It doesn't have to have Christianity, or Islam in order for them to have a religious system in this game. Anything that believes they are killing people for a higher power, or a group motivated on achieving enlightenment by following specific laws, rules, and regulations are religions. Even socialists can be considered religious too. In fact when a state becomes truly socialist they remove all religions, and replace it with their own teachings, laws, and social expectations. (because a sign of religion is that it considers others that do not practice what they do are outsiders and need to be converted or possibly killed).

I'm referring to worldly religions like Christianity. There is a big difference between something that is made up and something that exists in the real world.

Firstly the starting point for a Medieval city contains churches and cathedrals, that is the blueprint, you can't seriously say I'm being prejudiced by suggesting we stick to it!
Secondly churches and cathedrals are BUILDINGS not religion!

This is a fantasy game, not a medieval town simulator.

Well people could bring earthly religions into SotA because the characters are us.

I won't bring "religion" in though.

That doesn't bother me. People can do what they want. I just don't want the dev team to put religion or religious symbols into the game.

Atheism/Abiogenesis is just a different religion with its own values and faith positions. It sounds like you're saying you are happy for that world view to forced down peoples throats as long as no other faith positions are represented.

I don't really care what people believe or not believe.
Religion has nothing to do with this thread at all.

That been said I'd like to see a dome-like structure for Lord Marshal's Great Hall.

    Greetings Avatar!
This thread is for discussing the new pledge rewards and the new stretch goals. I fail to see where religious debate ties into that. Time to bring it back on topic.

You own the right to the lot which is tax free however, you would still need a lot deed to place on that lot. Also yes, they can be earned in game but will incur an upkeep from what I know.

My understanding is that the player town lot is potentially taxed separate from the housing lots. So if you buy the player lot in the add-on store, you will not get charged taxes in game for the player lot. If you get the player town lot after the game goes 'live', ie you earn or buy the lot using in-game currency, a tax for the lot will be applied and need to be paid.

As lots have its own potential tax, separate from the player town lot, similar rules apply. Lot deeds received as part of the pledge are non-taxable deeds. Lot deeds bought from the add-on store are taxable and taxes would have to paid on toes lots claimed using the add-on store deed. So in a player owned town, it is possible that some people will end up paying rent and others would not have to, it all depends on how they got the lot deed.

    Not really.
Empty lot is likely to be always tax free. The scene will be taxed though.
Anyway only pledge (home) lots are tax free. Add-on lots are taxed even though they are pre launch as well.

I quite agree that scene tax should be payed (mostly) by people paying taxes for their houses there so people would be encouraged to have full scenes. I am quite sure no one wants to encourage map full of ghost towns.
