You can buy those 'odd skull's in Ardoris to the east of guard captain Cugel's place.

    • PaxLair is located east of Brittany in northern Grunvald.
    • Thursday, October 29 Release:
      • Sean Silverfoot will be Steward to help set up PaxLair and work with other owners
      • Themo Lock will enable more people to help in Lockbrier and Dragons Watch as stewards
      • PaxLair metropolis specific:
        • Housing will be placed organically again, as people desire houses and locations (using last release layout as initial template)
        • Crafting pavilion (town lot) on north end of downtown should be made available early to @jiirc
        • Most NPC buildings will be near the bridge
      • Some specific projects:
        • (Kacey) First work effort is to help Kacey build the PaxLair town-village-village sized cemetery - need lots of granite
        • (Winfield) PaxLair Castle area inside the main entrance and up the hill to the right will be set up as a "convention center" area
        • More??
Please reply with more ideas and questions! Thanks!

We are holding the weekly PaxLair Working Hours now, at 9 AM CST on December 5th.

Anyone may attend and I will post what people are working on, no matter what guild or town you belong too.

This is a bit of a weekly "stand up".

    Winfield -
    • Portalarium holiday decorations and party preparation.
    • All Player Towns Gathering prep for December 13.
    • Prep for PaxSouth Player Gathering in San Antonio, TX on Jan 29-31, 2016.
    Sean Silverfoot -
    • Post office creation in PaxLair with couriers and a building.
    • Running Tuesday working hours where Selene from Avatars Radio hosts a radio show to help highlight a borough and neighborhood.
    • Working on PaxLair Christmas Party plans.
    • Putting in more Deco in PaxLair.
    • POT connections are not correct yet, but will request fixes after desired biomes are in.
    • Dragons Watch will remain a PVP scene? Or not?
    • Want to have a PaxLair "governors" meeting for POTs in the cluster soon.
    Themo Lock -
    • PaxLair Christmas Lot deco.
    • New add-on store statues.
    • Lockbrier residency requests - there are many - can offer people to live in different PaxLair boroughs, not just Lockbrier.
    • Promoting and helping support many guilds' events - helping anyone who asks - remaining neutral.
    • Orienting new Twitch TV and YouTube video streamers and producers to SotA - Japanese and German - getting them to various player events. Getting more video out about SotA.
    Gaelis Trajan -
    • PaxLair Christmas Lot in Lockbrier.
    Stryker Sparhawk -
    • Lighthouse in PaxLair deco.
    • North Paladis post office.

We in PaxLair had a great "working hours" session this morning (December 19, 2015 at 9-10 AM CST / 3-4 PM GMT). We have working hours regularly each week so we can work together on projects, share information, and get to know each other and new people. Our working sessions are always open to anyone and everyone in Novia. We meet in Novia (in game) and also in Teamspeak (the main way we communicate in these sessions).

Here are some points that we discussed and things we are working on.
    • Supporting the Portalarium Christmas Party - January 11th - Kacey
    • Supporting the in-game New Years Party at FireLotus Tavern on January 1, 2016 (all time zones in the world).
    • PaxLair in Episode One
      • We continue to discuss how we wish to start PaxLair in Episode One and build the town over time.
      • Some of us may play the Single Player Offline version of SotA in Episode One to immerse ourselves in the SotA Storyline, like the old Ultima games. Others will be in Multi Player online (friends or open) going through the storyline. Still others may not follow the storyline much except where needed to gain resources, items, recipes, etc. So we are very open as to how people wish to realize the SotA Storyline and we respect that. We will avoid storyline spoilers for others, yet we will help people in or through the storyline if they desire.
      • PaxLair will be a small settlement of 10+ Player Owned Towns (we call them boroughs) at the beginning of Episode One, following our noses to discover our interests, our boroughs (Player Owned Towns), our own storyline/history, and our relations with the region and others in Novia.
      • Our government system and methods are not established yet; they will be in Episode One as we adapt to new people, interests, situations, needs, and working through goals and objectives.
      • PaxLair is a town, not a guild. PaxLair is made up of many guilds who work together or separately. Living in PaxLair gives people a common community and we will make PaxLair as realistic as possible with citizens, residents, companies, guards, bandits, tourism, visitors, etc.
    • Multiple Language - we continue to support "localization" efforts in SotA, to work with many groups around the world, and to test and discover how PaxLair can become a multi-national/multi-lingual community of people.
    • New York City Gathering - Sean Silverfoot to help work a real life gathering in that area.
    • Communities, Clans, Guilds and more ... we continue to discuss how our groups define themselves in PaxLair and how game mechanics may affect (positively or negatively) our groups. This involves a discussion on guild warfare mechanics and alliance ideas.
      • We have formed two guilds for testing guild warfare: PaxLair Guards versus PaxLair Bandits. These two guilds are test-guilds and those wishing to test the system are welcome to join. Kacey runs the guards and Sean Silverfoot runs the bandits.
These are topics and things we work on in our PaxLair Working Hours each week -- it is a time for people to get their heads together at the same time.

Our PaxLair meetings have more summaries and discussion via TeamSpeak and in game. We meet on Sundays at 0830 CST (US) / 1430 GMT and at 1930 CST (US) / 0130 GMT - Join us in Teamspeak at: 43.245.163.15:10099

    See Avatars Circle Calendar

    Thanks!

On the eve of the Portalarium Holiday Party 2015, to be held in Austin and online on January 11, 2016 ...

    PaxLair ("Peace Place")

THANK YOU EVERYONE -- NEW YEAR 2016 !!

I wish to thank everyone who's touched PaxLair in some way during our never-ending journey in Shroud of the Avatar (SotA). PaxLair is a town, not a guild. We've touched and have been touched by many people:
    • PaxLair Veterans from Ultima Online (UO)
    • New PaxLair Residents and Citizens which include all our "boroughs" in the PaxLair cluster (many Player Owned Towns)
    • Our neighbors in the region of Grunvald
    • Friends in all regions throughout Novia
    • Developers
    • Twitch Stream Teams
    • Radio Stations
    • Fan sites
    • and of course my wife who keeps me grounded (like that's even possible!)
I see our path forward into SotA as a wonderful journey together:
    • SotA is not just a game ... it's a community.
    • I've personally met many people that I highly respect and would gladly work with in any venture.
    • Through global communication and powerful home computers, we have the opportunity to do great things together across this world at a moment's notice.
    • We are a community and distributed workforce to be reckoned with for the future of gaming and supporting each other with new ideas and innovations.
We come together in Shroud of the Avatar for some reason, what is it?

I believe it's not just to play another game, just find another "MMORPG-like" game to entertain us, or to just discover a new Ultima-like adventure. I believe we are here because there are so many dimensions to being involved in this "game":
    • play a game
    • offer ideas to help design the game
    • meet with developers (physically or virtually)
      • create music for the game
    • write books for the game
    • play-test the game for QA and be part of the "bug-hunt"
    • buy and sell things in- and out-of-game
    • make story-lines of your own
    • create videos, twitch.tv, blogs, web sites, radio, wikis, and more
    • raise funds for charities !!
    • run kids-oriented events (Minerva's idea)
    • make how-to-guides (video and text)
    • organize and run player in-game and real-life events and gatherings
    • form guilds and groups and consortiums for common goals
    • new player alliance to help new people
    • ... more ...
    • meet people across the world !!
So... the above shows we can do MUCH MORE than just play a game. We can be involved in an experience well beyond what we anticipated when signing up for a $45 pledge.

Personally, I'm "all-in" for the long haul ... in SotA and UO ... as I have full confidence in the creators of these realms. In fact, I have upgraded my "home office" to be as functional as possible when playing or supporting the game.

My Home Office ... my cave.

Thanks to everyone so much for being part of the PaxLair dream and team!!!

We are approaching Release 26 with a full wipe. We will need to rebuild our towns.

We are drafting our PaxLair R26 objectives now during our PaxLair meetings today.

Primary Goals of PaxLair during pre-Episode 1:
    • Define basically what PaxLair is and what it stands for

    • Think upon how citizens and residents will "build/discover" PaxLair when Episode One is released
    Non-PaxLair Specific Goals during pre-Episode 1:
    • Conceptualize various templates and mechanics to support Player Run/Owned Towns in general
    • Play-test many aspects of the game and offer feedback / find bugs
    • Support real life player gatherings
    • Support regional and realm-wide communities such as markets, radios, fan sites, quests, more
    • Help new players
PaxLair Cluster (name - size - current template - (connection in PaxLair) - [owner]:
    • PaxLair - Metropolis - Forest01 () - [Winfield]

      • Explore ideas for making roads as part of PoT deco items
    • Test PaxLair connections to other PoTs in the PaxLair cluster
    • Help new players and work with/through the new Player Help Center
      • Try to build Hotel Austin-PaxLair, Hotel Austin-Port Phoenix, etc. in PoTs to help new players
      • Hold some New Player Volunteer meetings to organize
      • Have potential calendar for Player Help Center volunteer work
    • Test gathering, agriculture, combat, guild wars, etc. with sub-objectives to be defined

Started on Sunday, February 7, 2016 (Release 26):

PaxLair's Inner City - Castle Walls

We are now experimenting with designs for an Inner City within PaxLair metropolis. Come take a look! We are preparing ideas for post-Final Wipe so it's time to experiment. Thanks!

View from Darkridge (the eastern ridge). South end (to the left) features the Church of the Dark Star (thanks @Amber Raine) and city cemetery, middle is the Giant Yew Tree and new stone keep, and north is the pub, market and crafting.

View from the stone bridge outside the walls. See how row houses are integrated into the walls too. Excellent for Roof Hopping (and getting around areas where walls don't fit well.

View from a balloon inside the inner city. Thanks @Engel ! See the Giant Yew Tree too! Thanks @Sean Silverfoot !

View of a new add-on store Stone 2-Story Keep with Courtyard Town Home integrated with the city walls. Thanks @Kacey!

Ah, the inner sanctum! The backyard pub! We must protect the Ale! Thanks to everyone!

We will experiment with the Inner City design this release, so we are moving a lot of houses, walls, and deco around. So most people are living patiently outside the city walls for now. Thanks for your patience!

    Have fun!

We have regular events each week as seen below. Times are in US Central Time. These events are open to everyone whether or not you are a resident of PaxLair.
    See: http://avatarscircle.com/community-events/

Remember, PaxLair is not a guild -- PaxLair is a city of 9 unique Player Owned Towns (POTs) combined. There are many guilds, shops, residents, visitors, and adventurers in and around PaxLair.

As such, we meet each week to work together. We use TeamSpeak: 43.245.163.15:10099 no password

    Saturday
9:00 am PaxLair Working Hours (Winfield cannot attend through May 31)

    Sunday
    8:30 am PaxLair Meeting
    7:00 pm PaxLair Meeting

    Tuesday
2:00 pm PaxLair Town Manager Hour (Led by @Sean Silverfoot)
Over the course of the next 3 months, we are preparing for the Final Wipe scheduled for late July 2016. At that point, we start to build PaxLair in earnest as settlers. We are motivated, creative, patient, and relaxed.

While we have some plans for the PaxLair layout in our various POTs, such as the central city in the PaxLair POT with castle walls, our goal is to work with residents and friends to build the city over time. This includes government, shops, embassies, warehouses, inns, pubs, theaters, libraries, history, stories, and much more. It will also include web sites, videos, books, real-life gatherings, and plenty of activities.

The Making of PaxLair will be an adventure unto itself over the coming years. We look forward to seeing and meeting many people as they live in, pass through, and enjoy what people can do together to build a city.

There's a full wipe coming up next week. So if anyone wants pictures / videos of our layout in PaxLair with all the castle walls downtown, now is the time!

We will re-create portions of it over months after Final Wipe... i.e., August-December. What we do in the next 3 months will be more experimentation/testing, possibly in our other POTs.

We have to remember this game is not released at Final Wipe at the end of July. We hope to see many more residents and citizens and visitors in Episode One (later this year).

I will miss Saturday's working session again. I am at real-life work every Saturday through May 31. See everyone on Sundays though! (my day off).

    Cheers! Be safe out there!

On Thursday, April 28th, I will not be around until late in the day (after 2200 CDT) to hand out stewardships in the PaxLair POT.

Stewards in POTs can help place lot markers and decorations throughout the scene. This means there may not be lot markers available for people who want to claim a lot in the PaxLair POT during the test of the sequential land grab. I don't know how long the land grab goes.

However, we have 9 POTs in our PaxLair cluster so please seek out other lot locations too. We will be testing more of our cluster during these last three months before Final Wipe too. So get a good spot!
    • PaxLair (Winfield) - Forest
    • Dragons Watch (Themo Lock) - Underground connecting other POTs
    • Golden Cove (Pindar Sin) - Island
    • Islands of Wonders (Duchess Soleidad) - Island
    • Knowhere (Manerd) - Island
    • Lockbrier (Themo Lock) - Forest
    • Sea Nymph Grotto (Wyldemane) - Underground
    • Serenity Isle (Fionwyn Wyldemane) - Island
    • Tenakill (Sean Silverfoot) - Grasslands
Check in with Sean Silverfoot if you can. He's our City Manager. Check in with our other POT owners to as they may have lot markers open for use.

Oh, remember, there is the PVP Underground called Dragons Watch - you can enter from the bridge in PaxLair and the other POTs. Live on the edge there ... that might be fun! I hear the fish bite pretty hard down there! Careful!

Our plan for R29, R30, and R31 is pretty simple:
    • Test more areas in our POTs as desired.
    • Continue to think about our Settler period after Final Wipe, but don't overthink it.
    • Help each other out in getting their avatars up to speed to go adventuring, crafting, etc.
    • HELP NEW PLAYERS - oh, some of us are Hospitallers - more can be too! Help everyone who needs help and welcome everyone to Novia. See SotAHelp.org and sign up!
    • Continue play-testing and report those bugs!
    • Work on more of our backstory for our POTs, guilds, neighborhoods, and more. Prepare some "books" that will be found in ruins and such.
    • Develop our historical society to be prepared to document our history as PaxLair is built post-Final Wipe.
    • Continue to test the warehouses and provide service to residents in our POTs.
    • Create the Post Office to interconnect to other towns and regions.
    • Help decorate Hometown.
    • Attend many events in and outside PaxLair.
    • Test the Settler Period 1 portion of PaxLair POT downtown area as documented in SotAMap.com
    • Work on web site.
    • Adventure, hang out, relax, and have fun!
    What else?

    Thanks!
