Are you concerned about the summon elemental combos, or the skill as a whole?

you bring up a couple great ideas, actually.

i like the auto-close after a time - 2-4 seconds at most i'd think should be enough - anyone stuck inside is STUCK INSIDE though, until they use their spells to get out lol

as far as the business and locking down some of the areas, that may be already be a function once the get the advanced permissions in housing - would be something to test for sure!

Can we get some Dev+ backers' feedback on the manual attack during combat?

    As a whole.

What's the downside to this skill? Where's the risk?

Love the spell, don't like the balance.

That is a good point. Perhaps it will have a high fizzle chance, or a chance to consume a large amount of focus. Or, even better, possibly summon an unbound version of the monster that may be hostile to the caster.

I don't think its tuned at all yet, they are just adding functionality.

Well one downside is it doesn't actually do anything unless you use it in a combo. Also skill tree affinity will make big differences.

Well you do have a spell in your deck that's useless to lock and exists as a functionless dead weight unless you can make the proper combo in time.

    That's a penalty.

It unlocks a ton of spells. What other spell does that? If I want darkness, I have to use chaos and juxtapose. See?

Someone using all plate will likely want that 10%, someone using cloth probly would appreciate it cuz they wanna wear all cloth usually anyways, if you use a heavyc hest with cloth, your still better protected than all cloth, ANd if you mix plate with a leather chest piece, your still getting better protection than all leather

But we're going to have combos between every school of magic.

To utilize the spell effectively you are forced to spec into several different trees unless your jsut after a particular combo, it causes you to use mroe skill points to get a single ability your after. It can't be used by itself so effectively consumes deck space

And if you want to use fiery decay you have to use deathray and flame arrow. Its just one of many upcoming combos.

So far it looks like juxtapose's primary function is to provide debuffs at the cost of forcing cross-speccing and consuming deck slots

It's different. If you want to use firery decay you don't get 20 other spells that you already have half the requirements for.

When they add non-combo blocks and counters then I'll be impressed.

Yep...I get that. No need to sell me on the concept. It's just that undoubtably, it becomes foolish not to always "set up" and channels us all down the exact same path. Unless, of course, as Chris eluded, you are off to a social only engagement and don't require protection. If not, you'll most certainly want "Max Protect" bonuses as anything less is just...less. It's the new gold standard, like it or not. It'd be different if there were rare, unique set bonuses.

Not yet no because not even a fraction of the combos are added yet. I would love to see you cram every juxtapose combo in one deck, i cant even make that viable at lev 100 /100.

That sounds like how things already are. People try to get the max protection by wearing cloth with chain tunics or cloth with resist bonuses, or folsk who dont have to worry about fizzle so much will go ahead and wear plate and chain. Then people use a shield based on whether or not they need the damage of a 2 handed weapon.

In some cases it requires cross-speccing across three schools for it to be useful.

The Darkness spell would be most useful for people specializing in Moon Magic, as it would help out with stealth. But someone in Moon Magic who wants it not only has to go into the Chaos tree, but also has to go into the Sun Magic to get the Light spell. The same thing with the Evaporate spell, because it would be most useful for people specializing in Fire Magic, but requires Douse, which is in Water Magic. So, it creates a choice for the player of going into three spell trees vs. one.
