Guys, please do not make Unicode posts like this. Although some browsers can handle it, many cannot.

This goes for post IDs as well - that makes the forum break in several interesting ways.

Sorry to be the party pooper!

I guess the forums need a Runic font then! ;)

It would require every single user installing a specific non-standard font, not using Chrome or IE, and never using a mobile device to view the forums.

Plus, I asked nicely not to. Don't discount the asking nicely bit.

You must appreciate that I am not breaking forums in boring and uninteresting ways;)

Well, I would prefer forum to support the Unicode, I never intended to break anything. Also AFAIK you can force runic font on users if you store it on the server. It will not work for most mobile phones browsers, they will see English text, but on PC it should work.

PS: You are member 1? Is Lord British aware of that? :D

I usually use English translation as well, though, technically I am using English, just coded with a simple substitutional cipher.

Hey Sir Nicolas, your unicode sig is not showing for me on Safari on a Mac.

I think you might want to reconsider using it at all - maybe just have a link in english, because many people probably won't see it like it looks to you (runic, I assume.)

Also they don't seem to be fans of runic on the forums. We might be able to get away with too much I suppose.

Nah, they changed my runic name (because it was doing some funny things to the database), they deleted runic from my thread title (I assume it was not url/database friendly either), but I am not giving up on my signature.

Also I think that you do not have any font supporting unicode runic block installed on your computer. I included the English translation in my signature for people who can not read/display runes, though there is not much point for them in visiting my thread if they can not display the runic text.

Some browsers simply refuse to show the characters though. I have just about every possible runic unicode set installed and yet Chrome does not show it.
I'm sure I could use Firefox, but then I don't want to spend 10 minutes on every page waiting for flash to load.

I asked mods to move posts from maze thread to this one.

I do not see runic in Chrome either, not sure why. If I select runic text in Chrome and right click on selection I can see runic in Search in Google option in the menu, I ma not sure why it does not display properly on the page.

Not everyone reads the forums on a PC. iPad. Is nicer :)

But I can't install fonts on it... :(

    Win 8.1 SP1
    - IE11 = runic displays ok
    - Firefox = ok
    - Chrome = nope

    Mac OS X 10.9.3
    - Chrome = nope
    - Safari = nope
    - Firefox = nope

And several companies (and end-users, like me) refuse auto-downloading TTFs as well, since they can contain unpleasant payloads!

    Done !
On my Runic Translator you can use a "from Runic to English" translator with a virtual keyboard (still under construction but it work properly).

I have found (well, Miracle Dragone has found) a solution to missing runic characters in Chrome. It can be found in this link.
