Oh yeah, the Combat Trainer NPC in Xenos is Ghidorah. Be sure to check him out.
Pounce, from times old where discussion boards where all the rage on the interwebs. Because of me pouncing on flaws of logic and so on.. became fitting for my choice of rogue/assassine toons in muds
No.. not from Guild Wars.
I get asked that alot.
Back in the day of BBS's, I was drawn to the game Trade Wars. Heh. I am sure many of you remember that.
Well, I needed a logon handle and I couldn't think of a name... Sat there for quite awhile..
Welp, sitting beside my Commodore 528 and Ultima boxes, was a pair of Koss speakers.
Koss was born. Used that name ever since.
I knew it!
What a delightful thread! I’ve enjoyed reading all these origin stories!
In ‘94 or so, I played my first RPG: Ultima VII. I Was in my mid 30s. I couldn’t come up with a creative name for my character. My now ex and now deceased husband had wanted to name his daughter Brianna (overruled). He suggested that name. His character was named Feral Knight so he suggested Knight as a last name. So from then on, all my characters were named Brianna Knight. This continued into UO in ‘97.
In ‘98 that marriage ended. I was so heartbroken and spent 100% of my non-work hours in UO.
My character name bothered me so much. I finally decided to change it in ‘99. But to what?
I was listening to Fleetwood Mac’s The Dance a lot around this time. Plus, I was taking a chivalry class in college and we read an amazing story from 500 ad about a mystical creature named Rhiannon. Stevie Nick’s Rhiannon sounded so much like me and the place I was in my life. It all just fit. I chose no last name on purpose because I belonged to no one and was destined to be alone.
That name has just stuck with me. I’m no longer alone on earth but I am in other worlds. I’ve since learned more about the historical Rhiannon. She was thought to be a queen. I kinda like that.
You have to watch several episodes in, but I HIGHLY recommend it. This is a fantastic 10 episodes. A true masterpiece that will blow.... your.... mind.
Here's a teaser of the name:
Max is my english name and family name 'Bennis' came from the protagonist of Sword of Midras novel, of course.
Tried to connect the character with the world, I guess.
Ohh I didn't even know there's a TV series about it. I have to watch that! I used to looove the book! Also highly recommended.
My name in game is just my real name, which is pretty boring after reading all the cool name origins in this thread. I want to try to stay true to LB's vision that my avatar is actually me. Once I get my second character slot though, I'll try to come up with something interesting and meaningful for that character's name. My forum name, mute, is just a nickname a friend gave me because I'm super quiet and shy.
From what I understand it is an exact word for word rendition.
I had no idea what I was in for, blew... my mind.... repeatedly.
My only advice is to stop when it's over, when Epilogue starts, turn it off and digest. Watch the Epilogue the next day. On Youtube the last episode runs into the Eplogue, and they really need to be separate episodes.
Used Aurelius for many years, in pen and paper and computer RPGs. Several people assume it's connected to Marcus Aurelius, but it's actually drawn from this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Franklin's_Tale
Tchi Gatsuu , it means shut up in Cree language but not wrote the same way
My name Durin Toadsticker is a name I have been using since the late 1970s when I was playing D&D while stationed overseas when the game first came out. Toadsticker was an in game Guild that I started for the people playing in the worlds that I developed as a Dungeon Master. I just wish we had dwarves as that is what he started as.
EMPstrike from subspace
Arkah because imarkah. Random name i made up to RP on a middle earth UO server
Olthadir is a Sindarin name meaning The Man who Dreams.
It's from The Lord of the Rings mythology/legendarium. I'm not sure of it's authenticy, I don't know Sindarin other than the ability to look things up on the online dictionary. When I was looking for a new name for some games I did some research and put this together.
Oltha- v. to dream
dîr n. man, referring to an adult male
Put them together and got the name.
In-Game it is a name taken by the person who went through the portal and ended up in Novia. He hasn't told anyone his 'real' name... if he has one.
Leeloo Minai Lekarariba-Laminai-Tchai Ekbat De Sebat.
That kang ain't my thang! My thang Godzilla!
My character's name ingame is Malice Lanart. It's not her real name, obviously.
Malice because of, well, malice.
Lanart is a noble / Comyn family from Darkover. I love the Darkover series, and most of all "The forbidden tower" with the twins Ellemir and Callista Lanart as main characters.
Separate names with a comma.
