I would like first person view as an option, especially in tight spaces like caves and/or other tunnel like spaces.

Yes, first person view is essential.

They should just make zooming with the middle mouse transition from 3rd to 1st person and back as before.

Did you say Oculus support? Is there a link/thread I can look at about that? Is that even an option, or a planned option?

It was considered in one of the original Kickstarter Stretch Goals for the game, however funding did not satisfy the goal before the Kickstarter campaign ended.

Since the devs had suggested it before, it might still be possible that such may be included at some point in the future, though there has been no mention of it lately. :)

If you guys know anything about the Oculus Rift, you'd know the developers of SotA have already made design decisions that would preclude Rift support ever being added. It's not gonna happen at this point.

Not to say you couldn't use VorpX or Vireio to look around, but you're not going to be able to effectively play the game because it just wasn't designed for VR...

Yes, I would like to see the option to be able to switch back and forth between 1st-peron and 3rd-person view.

Oculis also wasn't precluded from future developments. Its still on the table, it's just been buried under the clutter. I want a fully immersive, watch-your -hands-move-during-spellcasting style first person mode anyway though; I was just saying VR support wouldn't be right without it.

Well, the proper support for Oculus need s just:
    a) different UI
    b) first person view (with body)
    c) head tracking

I think they can implement everything that needs to be implemented to support Ocolus. It may take some time to fgure the right way how to do the UI and so on, but it is doable. Not sure if theay are cheating 3D particle effects or shaddows, that might be more problematic.

I think you're confusing "theoretically possible" with "doable."

Their entire game has not been designed with VR in mind and this is something you have to do from the start to get it right or the cost goes up from there to the point that it's impractical.

Unless you want them to implement Oculus support as a gimmick while the game itself is unplayable as a VR experience. That can be done quite easily.

The game wouldn't need a different UI. You'd just have to be a good touch typist, like any Oculus-supported pc game.

I would never use it, but I would like it to be an option for people who like it... but zooming in now and invis'ing your avatar is almost 1st person

Following the development so far and seeing the increased detail of the World being created I do believe it would be a great shame if first person view was not implemented.

Housing is of course one of the main features and I know from previous experience that first person view inside your own house is certainly useful and immerses the experience.

One of my favorite MMO's for First Person View is "Vanguard Saga of Heroes" (soon to close - that's another Story!)
Vanguard has full Torso view and works VERY well indeed..... for an MMO that came out
years ago - I'm sure the DEV's here could match that!

I cannot get along with GW2. Its an amazing World but without First Person View I find its lacking....

I would pay extra to have the option of First Person View - its an important option to have in my humble opinion :)

No! There are more important issues to solve at this stage

Yes, more important issues indeed -- like how to separate Lord Spaz from his group so he can be PK'd :)

I vote yes because it is much easier to tend to tight quarters, such as housing, when in first person. I likely wouldn't play in it a majority of the time though.
