Yes apparently playing a game vs anything that is not Bots is virtual abuse :D

None. In EVE, one of the biggest sandbox, one of my friends spent 6 years without a kill in his killboard. By contrast, I made like 6500 kills in two years. All is about choices.

    Semantics.

If you exit the dock/house, and you can be attacked, yes, you are forced into PVP. There's a difference between "not going out of your way to fight people" versus "you are immune"

Having a flagging system prevents even that. If she ever wants to enter a PVP zone she automatically agrees to being killed eventually.. So they definetly not design those systems for her.

That is what I thought... I had dozens of friends in UO that sure feared to be ambushed with their crafters, but managed to join a guild that would escort them, or be backed by big guilds such as LLTS, a message on ICQ is all that was required within 5 minutes the place would be flooded by anti-pks... In fact I quite remember that it was the PKs who were "on the run" and hiding pretty much all the time.

As long as the game offers ways to accomplish goals otherwise, its not forced pvp, you just chose to take a risk because the reward was probably worth it.

If for example there are no safe zone/mines/forests for new players, thats a whole other story and sure would seem unbalanced.

I don't negate the fact some people were really, and I mean really unlucky :p

I know a friend who lost 6 houses/content due to the flour sack bug... I lost only 3 :p

But it kind of hurts that people transfer the blame from years of frustrations due to bugs, unto us PvPers...

It's a lazy and disloyal blame shift...

Actually when you joined the guild, you became perma grey, but people didn't know about it unless they tried to attack you, what that did is give a nice use to disguise kits, and to local reputation... some people could say I swear I saw a thief running around, and sometimes blue players would take the risk of attacking in town :)

If you stole from someone then you would remain perma grey to that person (visibly) for a period of time, I don't remember the exact timer.

I'm honestly baffled that SotA devs seem to have forgotten about all those details... I thought I would be schooled by the grandmasters, and not the opposite :/ no offense...

Ack... forgot about that needing to go in the PVP cons list ;). Visiting the bank if a friend asks you to come help them against a PK or beginning your day grabbing/unloading your gear.

If I were to unload equipment (I carry 60ish items) I'd need to spend time doing so and I'm too efficient to spend time robing and derobing at the bank before I head out.

That takes time, I agree but there are not many solution when a game want bring a full/partial loot system. In every game I played with pvp and loot mechanics I need use my bank to decide what I want bring with me and what I want keep safe for that day. We will see, being honest I'm not sure yet what they really want to do with the pvp in SotA.

I loved the pvp in UO its likely one of the reasons I bought Shroud of the Avatar.. I enjoyed the reds vs the blues I didn't find loosing equipment crippling at all because there was a strong economy. The Shrouds approach to pvp ransom would make it very hard for anyone willing to go Red because the ransoms would be too high. I think a revamped system would benefit a large community of players.. I think if you flag pvp you should stay flagged for a few hours and on the side ransoms should be reduced to gold based on adventure level. I think any ransom over 2000 gold is too much and will push players away.. I want to be able to avenge myself after I've been jumped but in most cases I'm broke from the ransom.. I would like to see more people in pvp zones a Red and Blue system would be nice and hopefully it would add the whole reds vs blues or Black shrouds vs White and there might even be some epic wars due to a longer flagging system.. But we still have to keep ransom low so players can die multiple times instead of 1. There will be some camping at the Ank so a longer burr timer would be nice as well. Shroud is a great game I'm very happy with it and I hope we can fix some of the issue related to PVP..
