There was a class, where we had to tell a story, character creation was the first stage. Who, what, where, why, etc!
The task was not nearly as easy as one would imagine - Character Create yourself.
Recently I felt a need to share this with someone.... figured eh. Why not share it with everyone. (name was changed to Amber for obvious reasons)
Never know, could help further writers who may need another "character" to write into their works.
May also help a writer realize just how in depth you can and should get with your main character.
(You are writing about them. For as long as you are writing them, you are having a relationship with them. You should know them very well)
Best to get the character right, then to look the fool by not knowing the person at all (just saying!)

The simple truth about Amber:

What I am not:

- I do not care for the strength of a man - If he can beat someone up, this is not going to impress me
-- If your brain does not work, if your intelligence/creative level is not on par with the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Einstein, your not my type.
- I do not like money - the more money a person has the more they may find I shy away
(money changes people, I do not like it. Nor am I for sale. Period!)
- I have no desire for diamonds - they are the ugliest pieces of glass anywhere!
-- I am also not fond of other gems -- There are "rocks" i like.. but they are as rare as myself!
(I did not even have a wedding ring - mind you that is because the <censored> never got me one but that's not the point)
- I can not eat chocolate - I am allergic to light/dark chocolate - Truffles somehow I *can* eat. White Chocolate i *can* eat.
-- I neither like or can eat chocolate of any other type inside of other things either.
- I do not like roses. - this could extend to any type of flower but there is an exception-
-- roses are living beautiful things, as are all other flowers. As soon as they are cut to make a bouquet they are murdered, dead. They wither and get thrown away
--- Roses are beautiful to look at while they are alive.. as are every other flower...
---- SILK/FAKE flowers are a very special gift.. they never die and you can keep them forever...
(as much as the gift of death is nice and all -- is it really how *you* say "I Love You"?)

What I am:
- I am myself, and shall not ever be anyone else.
-- Do not try to change me. Help me grow and improve. Yet, do not try to change me.
- I enjoy conversations and audio.
-- I am a very "audio" person. Visual is unneeded if I can "hear" something. I am happy.
- I enjoy music.
-- mixed tapes may be so blase and 80s. Yet, to be able to choose just the right songs to mix a tape, means you had to put thought into it to make it special
- I like frogs.
-- Goddess knows I have kissed enough. And, yet to find my Prince. I had no choice but to like frogs.
- I am simplistic and not materialistic
-- You would have more luck making something for free and from the heart. It would mean more then something bought, that would mean little.
--- showering me in gifts will not win me over, if nothing it will chase me away. See above "i do not like money, i am not for sale"
- I live to serve and it is what makes me happiest. Live to serve and serve to live.
-- Helping others before myself, giving all of myself to others so they may find happiness.
- I am a writer, a poet, a songstress, and a story weaver.
-- Tell me a story will win my heart far quicker then offering me someones head
(I get enough offers of removing peoples heads, it becomes dull and boring)
- I embrace the following virtues strongly, with almost no break: Honesty, Compassion, Sacrifice, Humility, Honor, Spirituality ( i follow chislev, no matter the world this is my Goddess. )
- Valor to me is not stupidity - Standing face to face with someone you know will kill you, is stupid. There is no crime in avoiding a fit of strength when one can win a battle of minds!
- Justice - You need to judge to bestow justice. Judge not lest ye be judged. A man may do right by his visions and thoughts, who are we to bring him to kneel because we think it is wrong?


(Valentines Day - Why what won - won )

To win my heart

- be sincere and honest.
-- I *do* embrace the virtue of honesty to the fullest extent. A white lie is still a lie.
- be compassionate.
-- This *does not* mean be a sap. Sappy, squishy, to me is weak.
--- Give of yourself to others, freely. Without need or asking for anything in return.
- Do not be sappy and squishy. Romance may not be dead. Yet, to me, romance is not sappy, squishy, blech!
- Listen to me - Sincerely.
-- Do not tell me you want to hear something, but then not listen to it.
--- My feelings are true, as much as i want to hear yours, mine also should be weighed and counted.
- Be Yourself. I am me, I shall not be anyone else.
-- Be yourself, if it is yourself you wish to give me, else find the other person you are offering.
(I could use more fools in my court. Should you wish to offer me someone else instead of yourself.
Remember: The truth always comes out, and pretending to be someone else you are not, is a lie)
- Take time to understand me. My likes, dislikes, attitudes and personalities.
-- I am not hard to understand. I am more simple then most may imagine. Take time to just watch, you will see.
- Do not show weakness. Sappy, Squishy, lowering of oneself. I will eat you alive if i sense it.
-- I am one who serves, yet I will feed like a piranha on the first sign of blood(weakness).
--- Be strong in self and control.

Does... That help? (I may actually be missing some - this is where watch and learn comes into practice)

When I consider quitting, and putting my pen down and not doing it anymore...
I remember a few words to keep me going...

April 1st - 2014 = Amber, you are really good at this, don't ever stop.
April 1st - 2014 = If i write a book, will you make the cover? "yes I will".

I will someday get that booked filled

Excellent work, Amber -- I enjoyed many many of your poems, I'll keep this bookmarked and subscribed to to ensure I catch future installments.

I don't write poetry much, though I do enjoy story writing greatly when work hasn't left me exhausted. But, recently, I did write a poem to describe Elgarion's state of mind and memory of The Void, the limbo he was trapped inside of (as so many of his townsfolk still are) for hundreds of years. Thought I'd share I did post it to a chapter of the Tavern's Respite not too long ago.

Blackness.
Darker than moonless night.
All light escaped my sight.
Time waned, relentless pain.
Why... why? My futile wanderings... in vain.
Whispers teased from the gloom,
I begged for sight.
But nothing came,
Save the night.
Centuries passed,
Memories lapsed.
This endless plight,
All light escaped my sight.
Blackness.
Darker than the moonless night.

I'm not exactly sure why he took to writing poetry, but after he left the prison of The Void, it took much effort on his part to regain sanity, and perhaps this helped him cope... to rationalize it all.

Thanks for all you do, Amber -- your contributions to this community, one which I feel I'm only starting to become a part of, are so so evident. So many speak of you in kind ways, and your Radio streams and services astound me. I've never seen this type of community involvement anywhere, and you're one of the ones at the forefront. I hope to support you in any way I can in the future. Don't hesitate to ask--if you need an RP extra or supporting character to a scene, for instance, I'm so there. Hope you don't mind or find it weird to get kudos from a complete stranger

Welcome to the Church of the Dark Star (Hallowe'en edition)

It has struck me...
Such a long time since the last.
Bitten and gnawed on once again
These cascading colours of present and past

In times of darkness they sought out the light
Twas here the horrors were seen and brought such fright
What creations of Soul's heart soon shall be writ?
As pen meets paper only these words seem to fit

Soon their discovery directed them to the shadows of night
For here they shall be protected from what haunts in the light

... and as I peek in the window to see within..
The images swirl through my mind phantasmically
Words echo through darkened halls of my sin
Carry dreams lost, remembered, reborn; bloodied and tragically
