The Release Instructions say PaxLair is West of the Grunvald region. Is this a purposeful and permanent change to the map of Novia? (what was North, is now West)

I would think it's closer to Northwest. :)

Experience boosters are a crappy idea.

And I'm not thrilled about the Passive Skill Limit thing, but everything else looks great!

Passive limit not as bad as it sounds, most of us hated the idea until we tried it out.

Couldn't you just respect your way around the passive limit?

I use a locked deck with 10 actives. I no way, shape or form, limiting my passives will give me the chance or the incentive to test eleven actives at once.

As much as they can cost, I will need to dump humongous amounts of points on actives I will NOT be testing. Why? Because I can use only ten.

I'm not disagreeing with you here, you're basically saying everyone has their own idea of what 'winning' the game is in a sandbox like SotA.

So my question for you is: Since you are defending these ideas as 'not pay-to-win', what would you consider 'Pay-to-Win' and therefore, avoided, with respect to SotA?

I'm one of the unlucky players who decided to delete his character to play with the new character creation tools not long ago, because I knew a wipe was coming and wasn't aware of the new double xp change until after the fact. I wish they introduced the change at the beginning of Release 16, or that it wouldn't take effect until the next wipe.

Experience gain is an odd thing to me. If we could each gain experience at different rates, I would expect that rate to be based primarily on our character's intelligence.. showing how well we're able to learn from our actions. Now that would be an interesting use of a player stat, wouldn't it? ;-)

Themo you played UO... houses in PvP were OP as they will be here... you start to lose and you go into a house where the other guy can't go and your buddies xheal you until you are good to go back. Houses effect as much, if not more, than an experience booster... I'm not talking about buying levels like WoW and EA-UO sell... I'm talking about booster packs like EVERY OTHER GAME sells. It's going to happen... I would just like to see it sooner rather than later :)
Chris said for E1 the idea is 100 and it should take 5,100 hours of active play to achieve. That's the spreadsheet he shared with me at Duke event and he said I could share that publicly... I thought I had before but yeah. Level 100 and 5,100 hours is the DLMB idea for E1.
A booster doesn't give you skills it reduces grind time. The same game is played. The same skill is required. Less grinding/mindless time will be needed. Some people would rather pay money to support the developers and their families than spending our hours to hit the same wolf 500 times. The game isn't adjusted by this... the end game isn't adjusted either. I personally would love it if the levels were gone. Since day 1 I haven't wanted these levels... but I accept them as everyone else has. I don't know how to say this in any other way besides: less grinding = more fun.

Not sure what to think of the new camera for the overland map... I think it was great as it was. Being able to play in the same perspective as in the scenes could look... odd... I hope that the fixed isometric view will still be optional.

But maybe it will be good, too. I will judge it when I can try it later today.

Come on Themo, lets call a spade a spade............Its ...... actually I cant say what it is because I will be moderated.

It isn't just the whole idea of limiting the points.....its the fact that the suggestion has even been implemented......what I mean by that is that the direction with regards to combat really is not good.

I mean PvPers have been screaming out for better features and systems; there have been hints that they hardcore side might actually get a bone or two........................but after this, why even bother?

Well out of everybody it kind of nerfs me the most, so no i am not exactly a fan of the idea. It does however mean i have less of an advantage over lower levels which i believe was the point of it... so in that respect its no so bad (except for me).

If it was to adjust the power of high levels they could just have tweaked the top end innate effects. This was more about driving players down more random glyphs so they can all be a master of everything at the expense of those who prefer to specialise.

no matter what the change, not everyone will agree

I guess we will just have to play it out a bit and then make suggestons to help them create a balanced and fair game for all huh. I mean that's what we're here for correct, to test changes and give input for the betterment of the game?

Release 17 seals it. No pledge from me. Sorry folks.

I'm not going to go into the reasons as it's clear dissenting opinions are squashed pretty quickly around here by the self-appointed "cool kids". If I thought for a second that this forum was a place for discussion then I would bother, but it is not.

Anyway, I'm out and on to bigger and better things. Good luck with your game, guys. I'll check back next year and see what's up.

This is actually one thing I'm looking forward to more than anything else at the moment. I don't necesssarily need to look at the sky, but I find the current camera limits too restricting and find myself screaming a little wanting to look a little further around me as I move. Or zoom out. Or something. Really glad to see this.
