Wrong, right now it's important to support all basic features (like SotAmap) on all officially supported OS.

I'm really disappointed with Portalariums recent decisions, especially after they moved Linux support from phase 1 to phase 2.
    Shame, shame, shame!

Ahhhh so adorable. I love the picture. Oh and I am one of those who doesn't use linux and I know not much about them ;), but I am definitely a windows user and no AMDs for me, but I leave that up to those who want to have them. ;)

This is a triage situation. Code does not magically write and debug itself. You only have so much time to implement certain things. Face it, Linux is still a minor part of the player base, probably more so among those who will join after release. Most new players are going to notice a whole bunch of areas with no map, while very few are going to notice that it doesn't work at all on Linux. There is obviously a very good reason why it doesn't work on Linux right now, and it is probably something that requires a lot of work, or they would have fixed it already.

A choice must be made, and "EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW" is not one of those choices.

There are three kinds of people who understand triage. Those who do, those who can, and those who never will.

Because the plug in that SotA Map was written in does not support Linux. This means we have to write a completely custom piece of code to support it which will take months and we have already been trying for months to do this in the background and so far have not been successful. We are very sorry but I am just trying to set realistic expectations as to when it will get done.

This does not really explain why it was moved over night from phase one to phase two (with offline support).
Integrating multi platform unfriendly code or dependencies (CEF) into SotA was possible not the best idea.

    Anyways, thanks for your reply.

Yes, this is something that needs to happen. However, I disagree with this part:
Rewriting the plug-in should be top priority. Then, everyone has a better experience.

You mean a black box OS that you are not in control of?

    But that's supported, yes.
It's not like Linux will really help you if 'they' are really after you ;-)

That's a really uninformed (and cheap) statement.

If you say so. I would ask you to enlight but I can't be bothered.
Discussion aside, you are correct of course. Acquiring SotA maps and supporting it officially and then moving a base feature of a supported system to ep 2 is a terrible step.

I was afraid to post I'm somewhat disappointed and have some doubts, but I have at least one man found who seem to share my concerns :p

    @DarkStarr

Please add a fog of the unknown, let the players discover the world and don't give them all the info on a silver tray. Overworld and Scenes !!!!
When I began playing this was the most immersive feature I had, when I saw the first map ingame I thought what the ****, but hell yeah this is so cool.
Please remove all ressources nodes and make them private entries only. Same for Mine or other Dungeon Entries.
Let people have an amount of poi the can set , but not all and everything. It's cool to forget something and to have to research again if you forgot where the entrance or this node, this job, this whatever was.
So you can have all the nodes on the map, but you have to mark them by yourself and it would be cool if this is limited to 100 or only 50 spots.
So you can have 50 spots in your mind, but not 10thousands of spots.

I also think sotamap is very cool and @Jakub White has done as good job and need to be honoured for that.
I would grant him the title Master Cartographer
