Looks like a peek at the combat system with runes popping in and out.
Too fast for me to handle.
Fortunately, I can keep swinging my sword.

There are certainly some not so reserved comments below that video that I can not totally disagree with currently.

Hopefully some of that is addressed.

    Things I find weird:

If people do not want to buy certain lots, will those just stand empty? Making towns look spartan?

What about the actual town other than purchased, user run stuff? Is everything user run?

The combat, holy smokes. WAY too fast do those things pop up. I was on the fence in the poll, but if this is the direction/pace, count me in the no column, even without playing it. Too ADD/Twitch for me.

    Things that are good:

Central locations, shared spots, for crafting. Nice to meet other crafters, builds community.

Natural language entry, awesome; however, even at 80 words a minute, I would love to use google voice to enter my dialogue.

Yeah..I'm even more not a fan of the card system now. I found myself staring at the bar to see what was going to pop up next rather than on combat. It seems weird that they want to get rid of UI and then set up a mechanic that makes you stare at it.

The combat UI is VERY VERY VERY much a work in progress/prototype and what you saw in the video (especially the icon shuffling) is nowhere close to what we want to ship. Please withhold panic until we show something ready for prime time (or at least 9AM as opposed to the 2:35AM version you saw).

Pretty interesting things, not bad for six months.

Looks good for a 6-month demo to me too. I still can't wait for an alpha to sink my teeth into. I'll wait til then to comment on the combat system.

Everything looks good apart from combat.

The demo shows exactly what I feared........seriously the card system sucks.

When driving a car i never look at controls, I look where I'm going through the windscreen else I will crash. Little bit similar in game, I don't want to be looking at cards randomly popping up, I want permanent spell and combat macros assigned to the keys that I choose so I can operate my character correctly.

Seiously do a U turn on your card combat......it's not good.

I appreciate what you say and my view is that I will see for myself at alpha launch.

In saying that I really believe that working on this combat mechanism will be like trying to polish a turd.......it won't matter how much effort you put in, it will still be *.

To add. Also in combat you're are trained and trained to do things by instinct, countering what your enemy does or finding a weak point to exploit. Hard to do when things are randomly flashing before you.

OK, Lum, I'll try not to panic just yet, but I must say that the combat UI really does need a lot of work. You do find yourself focused so much on the icons popping up so quickly, that you are missing out on the actual combat itself :( (I don't remember Magic:The Gathering moving that quickly!)

You guys should know by now to not show anything that is not at least somewhat representative of the final product. :) Better to not show anything than to give greatly false impressions.

The skill randomness is representative of what they are shooting for, the interface maybe not so much. I appreciate an inside look and it's what I've been asking for a while now. WE as a community need to not freak out and instead provide constructive feedback and not just say it sucks. Let's try to make this work and move forward. Alpha will be a time of great input and opportunity for change! Nothing is final.

Looking good so far, not sure about the random cards though.

    Combat:
    It's really two things:
    1) The UI - too many, too similar skills, randomly placed
    2) Face tanking - Combat should be more about active defense than offence

    Typing conversations:
Still unsure of this. If spelling counts, I’m doomed.

It may not be ready for prime time, but even so, I'm very underwhelmed by the card system. I was originally in the wait-and-see camp, but what has been shown was WAY too similar to almost every other MMO skill hotbar that I've ever seen, shoehorned into a twitch-reflex mechanic. I'll ignore the "random" bit.

I was definitely hoping for something... well, different, and more tactical.

The major problem I see with the combat card thing is it runs completely counter to the whole point of the minimalist UI. In its current state it is distracting but also in practice you have to keep looking at it instead of what is going on in the game world.

As for the typing conversations thing - I like it. I know some won't.

Sure, I appreciate it too and I wholly agree about constructive feedback. My point is that a reveal of what was just labeled by a dev as nothing like the final product should be kept in the dev+ forum, not shown to the world on IGN. If people in the community here are freaking out, what will people who are not here going to think?
