There is no fee or conversion rate. Each dollar equals a dollar

Not sure where anyone thought there was a fee or a ratio.

I think he was talking about having add-ons count a certain percentage towards your pledge total. For example:
    I have a $800 Knight's Tier Pledge.
    I have $100 worth of add-ons.
A certain percentagee, 25% for example, of the add-ons total that I had purchased would then apply towards the tier pledge I have. Thus making the total of my Knight's Tier Pledge worth $825, while still having $100 worth of add-ons paid for.

At least, I think that is what he was trying to ask about?

Seems pretty clear to me. $1 on the add on store equals a dollar towards your pledge.

I think it isn't what you are thinking. $1 in the add-on store doesn't equal $1 towards your pledge. The CONVERSION of add-on(s) that you bought, ie. $10 prosperity tool, is worth $10 when melted into a fund that you can either use to buy another add-on, or can be added to your pledge. Not that having $100 in add-ons means that the $100 is added to your pledge amount while still retaining that $100 in add-ons you purchased.

But DarkStarr wants us to stop speculating, so I will just wait until the whole system is setup in January.

Ok now I understand. I was focused on conversion only which is this thread but someone was asking if their ad dons could count towards their pledge without converting. The answer to that is no that will not happen.

Thanks Starr! This has been a much requested feature here on the forums.

Being able to convert your digital goods to store credit instead and reapply that credit to pledges or other add-ons is a great win for everyone. Looking forward to this!

I think that with this system, there is no need to apply add-on purchases to pledge value. In fact, it could create a loophole since you could then convert the add-on to store credit and then apply it to the pledge again. Sure, you could solve for that with complicated store logic, but more trouble than it's worth.

An interesting use of this might be to "flip" your house. If you have an existing lot in the store, cash it in and upgrade. Or if you had multiple houses, flip them to get a higher level house, etc. Definitely a nice feature and it'll allow everyone to take advantage of the value pack as well.

Will this conversion program also allow us to take funds out of our pledge and apply it to add-on items?

I really like this idea. I have a question...If our add on items add up to the next tier and it's been sold out will it not get us to that tier?

Thanks for this Starr...I feel really happy now :)

Not the way he described it BUT they will design the whole system next month, so anything is possible :)

I doubt it...I mean, it's sold out so you'd have to continue converting your add ons or directly pledge more until it bumps you to the next available tier.

Yeah, it would be useful to those that took advantage of the 15% pledge bonus and have no need to upgrade their pledge further but would rather convert that to credit for store purchases.

    So for example:

If i bought 5 items of Prosperity at 10$ i can now convert them in credits and buy the box with 6 inside for the same 50$ i got for the convert?

    Or more complex:

I bought 3 prosperity items at the "black friday" for 8$ and 3 more for 10$ each.
So i can smelt them into 54$ credit and buy the box with the 6 inside for 50$ and have 4$ spare to spend at any other item ad the add-on store?

This is what I would ultimately hope for, but I think they are straight melting add-ons into tier pledges.

Which kind of makes zero sense to me, because I am at Knight, and going from Knight up to the next tier is not something I will do (way too much gap honestly).

Melting in StarCitizen doesn't force your money into a tier. You melt, and can spend the money however you want again.

I'd really hope, if they are doing the same "system" that take that into account.

Now, using your example, you would have $4 credit in the store, which I can choose to put into a tier or keep for new addons later, but never get it "back out". Spent is spent.

    That I am ok with.

Thats right. Spent is spent! I dont care about getting 4$ back, but i will certainly buy more items at the add-on store and why loose 4$ without need...

How will pledges work, I am currently Pledged as a knight but upgraded to Lord on a payment plan. I would like to cancel that and buy a City plot. If I do this will I still have founder and backer status?
