It is too much, especially for cloth that deteriorates extremely fast. At full tilt levelling it costs 20k + per hour and people that don't know about graff mines get to a point where they cant kill anything to get enough gold to repair a dagger and stop playing.

ran a little experiment this evening.
In single player mode I went and mined iron.
I gathered iron at 2-4 per node and gathered hides from wolves. After about an hour I went back to owls head.
I turned all the iron I had into ingots and made repair kits. Using all the ore I made enough repair kits to repair 75% of the damage to my equipment. That really sucks as I wanted to use it to make new armor.
Then I went out for another hour. Came back with a round 30 iron and this time bought repair kits. It cost me 3200 gold. I fought spiders and wolves and got about 450gold in value from those. Pretty poor return.

right now you actually have to farm gem's everything else is worthless, even the challenge dungeon rewards got lowered to about 5k...

Sword of Ba Heer - a pledge reward - does not last more than about 3 hours of monster fighting. Which is ridiculous low in my opinion.
And if I remember right, a repair kit only added 10% durability back.

Besides that I think, that all founder/benefactor equipment should have a self repair over time feature, so that i.e. after one week of not further damaging any of it it will be back to it's full durability.
(And/or this equipment should be capable to grow, or any equipment of same type be able to masqueraded as the founder piece. So if I feed a founder shield my better new shield, the new shield will look like the founder shield and keep its new shield values.)

The point I'm trying to make is that durability and repair are out of balance. There are many who just want to adventure and not have to farm uncut gems.

Moving around mobs in combat > Stillness.
You preserve your armor avoiding hits so you can level grinding more time.
You can even kill a mob without being hit at all.
Oh yes we have a level system, another level grinding game in the world :(

i understand you trying to do that, but right now its not possible anymore! last release i thought the challenge dungeon run is a great way to make money ( get 90k - repair for 10k = 80k profit... this release get 5k repair for 10k = 5k loss ) but right now...
i dont know let's hope they change it asap because its totally not fun... a few days ago we did powerleveling, one of us had to go farm gems every few hours so he could actually repair his stuff back to full durability.
    The Durability-Loss / Gold-Income needs serious fixes.

Thanks to everyone for putting in the time to work out some of the math involved with the repair kit.

people where very well able to do basic repairs on there gear, i would put an limit to it like 80% or so, make it 60^ to make the black smith happy... but to think anyone would have been seen as an trained warrior who can not make do repairs on gear would have been strange...

Its pretty easy, though, to get enough gold through adventuring to buy entirely new weapons and armor and still have gold left over. Plus, you can skimp if you use some of the weapons you pick up instead of buying new ones.

But yea repair isn't worth it at this point.

Yes there is now no way at all to sustain levelling. If anybody at all has found a way to use crafted gear and do anything in game that involves combat please let me know.

Well, it would make sense since a lot of people are flooding the market with gems. Thus their value decreases.

140 repair kits needed to repair gear to full. 140 x 140 = 19600 gold. I have to hit 20k worth of gathered resources while grinding just to cover the cost of leaving the house. The house that is worth less than 2 equipment repairs.

Agreed. There should be a repair skill, that does not require carrying around hndreds of separate "kits" for each repair job.

That may have nothing to do with it... but it appears the patch today nerfed the value and the drop rate.

So far, the only noticeable effect I have seen in terms of supply and demand is the price going up when people buy, not go down when they sell.
