    We also need a system like that in for repairing I think. Allow a vendor to hold items with a deposit payment, until the player reclaims them. If the item is repaired by the crafter, then the deposit changes hands.

    I don't know if there are any issues with that I'm not thinking of, or how complex that would be, but it seems to me a system like that would be beneficial.

    DS might be referring to the final pre-release wipe before the final final Episode 1 Release wipe that starts the land rush. So, the penultimate wipe? Maybe he can clarify.

    And as to less wipes making things more difficult for devs, I'm guessing that may mean downtime to reorganize the database (or closing down earlier right before release) instead of just blowing everything away.

    I guess that's where I'm getting thrown off by the phrase "final wipe". I guess final is not really final? Should it say pre-final wipe? :)

    I'd reword it as final pre-alpha wipe (or final pre-release wipe, but I find that honestly hard to believe).

    OH I hope not...

    I think there is a LOT of misunderstanding going on here. The only thing Final Wipe means is that last wipe before release, after which all your progress and items will be retained henceforth, "forever", no more wipes, like all completed games.

    And there is no reason to think it means anything other than the same type of wipes we've been experiencing. Other than it will be the last one...a final wipe, if you will.

    And that last wipe will come after Beta concludes, so that it will be a final wipe, because why the heck would that ever change. Omg, I can level up and keep my progress before launch?!?...

    Umm, no. Remember that final wipe? Yeah, that was the last one. Any playing after that means the game launched. Because duh.

    sorry to keep bringing this up, but to clarify: does this mean that there will not be a final FINAL wipe before launch? i mean, if not, essentially that is launch, right? - and it would also necessitate final land rush lot selection as well?

    unless im confused, which happens often.

    Thanks @DarkStarr for the update on this. I didn't see any specifics coming up about improvements to the avatars. Maybe that is just an ongoing thing and understood, so just wondering if you could comment on plans. I haven't done a thread on it for a while and would be happy to if you say. And again thanks for all you and the team does for the game. Fantastic job.:)

    This is... Interesting.

    It's groundshaking news, and maybe the most important hush-hush announcement of this thread (and probably of the year).

    I'm very curious about what made change your mind.

    Also, how this will impact the usual roadmap alpha/features, beta/content, ep1/launch.

    And if the last wipe will be announced and marked extremely clearly, so that we know that from day X, there's no turning back - mistakes are final (ever destroyed a prosperity tool? Me too!), land rush is real, name rush is real, character builds must be carefully thought out, and grind will finally have a meaning: to reach Themo.
